Versa 2 Charging Dock

Not sure what planet the development team are on or whether they are habitual recreational drug users but the latest Fitbit watch has the worst charging dock known to man.

Most sensible users would want to place the charger on a flat surface and just place the watch on the ports.

But oh, no! Fitbit techs think that the best idea is to have the cable coming straight out the back, preventing you from placing it flat. They then come up with this absurd idea of putting a clip next to the wire to feed the cable in, presumably to "hang" the dock on.

Really???? and what, pray, do we hang this on?????

It is prerequisite for the tech department to have an IQ of a frog?

This is the way all the Versa docks are made. The thought is that while the tracker is charging it may be used as a clock. Choose the option to keep display on while charging.

Of course most of the other Fitbit models, exception is the Blaze, also are unable to lay flat while charging.

It could only be used as a clock if the strap is removed otherwise it just lies on it's side and with the amount of effort it takes to remove and refit the strap, this is not an option I would choose.

Suggesting this option seem to me to be a bit of a get-out for a poor design.

This is the first tracker watch I have bought and so cannot comment on other models but all I can say is; if I wanted a clock, I would have bought a clock!

Furthermore, it must already have been highlighted as an issue as web searches for compatible docks all show models which do not have the same inconvenient design.

As I stated in my initial post, the Fitbit techs do not seem to be on the same planet as the consumer.

Seems to work fine for me. Into going to argue, I'm simply telling you the idea behind why. As far being on its side during charging. The Versa, Versa Light, Surge, Charge, Charge HR, Charge 2, Charge 3, Inspire, Inspire HR, Alta, Alta HR all require to be on their side while charging.

The Versa charging dock allows it to be charged face up.  I own a Versa and Versa 2.  The design of the Versa 2 charging dock is poor.  The base of the wire should not be coming out of the back.  Just my opinion.  I preferred the original Versa's charging dock with the cord coming out the side.

If you want to take it apart and redesign yours. Go ahead.

Fitbits idea is that by having it on the side it can be used as a clock.

Just to be clear, if somebody wants to lay claim to such a poor design then there's hope for all of us. For the price we have to pay, with the cable protruding out the back in this manner it looks extremely messy and doesn't give it any idea of superiority.

With regards to me designing anything, there are already a few third-party suppliers of charging docks which are far more appealing and professional-looking.

If you are happy with second-rate, then fine but for the price we have to pay I would expect better.

Don't attack the messenger that was simply explaining their thoughts.

Go me it really doesn't matter seeing that every 5 days I need to put it on its charger for about 1 to 1.5  hours. My Versa 2 spends about 45 seconds out of every hour on its charger.
