Versa 2 Refuses to Update

Hello, Fitbit community! My mother recently got a Fitbit for Christmas, and she's been really happy with it! However, this morning she came to me saying that her watch was stuck at a "Data not cleared. Sync & try again" screen. I have no idea how she got to said screen; her story is "she woke up and it was like that." Any attempt to sync the watch would fail, so I unpaired it via Bluetooth and from the Fitbit app and tried to repair it to the app.

 

The setup process goes smoothly until it needs to update. At the "Meet your Versa 2" update screen the progress goes to 5%, then the watch shows a red X and goes back to the "Download the Fitbit app to get started" screen. Attempting to update via Bluetooth results in the app hanging indefinitely.

 

I have tried moving closer to the Wi-Fi router, restarting the app, clearing the app's data and cache, and restarting the watch, and using my own phone. Not sure what to do now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Some side notes:

  • My mom's phone is a Galaxy S8 with Android 8.1 installed. My phone is a Galaxy J7 Prime (2017 model) with Android 8.1 installed.
  • My Wi-Fi is not the problem. My dad's Fitbit updated just fine using the same network less than a week ago. Mine also updated just fine, but I've had my watch since November.
  • We are both using the latest version of the Fitbit mobile app.

Mine is doing the same thing and now i cant sync. Un installed twice and I am getting no where. I hope someone advises us how soon.
