Versa 2 Side Button not Working

I have had my Fitbit Versa 2 for about 3 years now and my side button decided today to not work. I can not turn my watch off, and I can't navigate back to the home screen if I select an app. I have already tried cleaning around the button with a toothpick, I have also selected shutdown and then had to connect to the charger in order to turn my watch back on. Any assistance would be appreciated since the live support chat refuses to connect.
