Versa 2 Sleep Tracking Compatibility

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've spoken with tech support for the Sleep As Android app and they told me that the recent update for Fitbit rendered certain models of Fitbit incompatible with the app, including the Versa 2 which I've been using successfully with Sleep As Android for over a year (no longer connects, even after trying every suggestion I've read on the forums).

Is this an issue that Fitbit is aware of, and if so will they be addressing it or has the Versa 2 stopped receiving support?

Hello @TomDG8 and welcome to the Community.  I'm going to flag your post to get a moderator to help you.  I don't wear a Versa 2 or use an Android phone, so I have no way of helping you.  Users are posting about many different issues with the Android app update.

I'm confident that the Versa 2 still receives support.  It still for sale in the US Fitbit store.

I've been using this Versa 2 for 2 years with Android. Before that I had a Versa 2 which broke and was replaced under warranty within the first 10 months. I have been getting sleep scores every day (and oxygen levels) until May 4, 2022. Since then the month of May and June had about 80% sleep scores. July had only 10 sleep scores. In August I have had no days with sleep scores. All I get is time asleep, number of times awake, number of times restless, minutes awake / restless, and sleep schedule (bedtime & wake up).

I have the same watch face for the last 2 years. I've reset the versa 2 multiple times. I disconnected the Versa 2 from the application and then put it back. I tried tightening the watch band with no change (except for a sore wrist). Since I have not had a sleep score, I've now loosened it for comfort.

Additionally when I access the app, I get a nonsense number of steps. For example today (10 AM) the Versa 2 indicates 188 steps, 0 floors and 0 calories, but the Android application indicates 11,629 steps, 0 floors, 0 miles 682 calories. When I accessed the Windows 10 application on my computer, I had 0 steps until it synced and then indicated 188 steps, 0 floors, 0.09 miles, 772 calories. Shortly after the Android app displayed the same.

Is my Versa 2 oxygen sensor broken or is the software no longer compatible with my Versa 2?

Thank you, hopefully the mods can reply soon! I know the Versa 2 is still receiving support but this is more specifically whether it is going to continue supporting sleep tracking with the "Sleep As Android" app. As far as I can tell it is the most popular option, but will no longer connect to the Versa 2 after the recent update.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having problems! Your issues sound much more broad in scope than my original post. Maybe you should start a thread re: your oxygen sensor issue?

My question is more specifically whether it is going to continue supporting sleep tracking with the "Sleep As Android" app. As far as I can tell it is the most popular option for sleep tracking, but will no longer connect to the Versa 2 after the recent update. Can you clarify whether "Sleep As Android" is the app you've been using? (It's sometimes shortened to just "Sleep" when looking at the app on the watch face or phone, with a little image of the green Android robot logo with its eyes closed)

Both my fitbit, and the Fitbit/Sleep as Android apps are fully up to date. To be clear about the lack of functionality, when I tap "start sleep tracking" in the app now, it will just sit there saying "waiting for connectivity". Likewise when I tap the app on the watch face to connect, it just sits on the connecting screen with a message saying "Good night..." followed by instructions on how to connect. Usually this screen would quickly transition to a recording red dot and the time once it connected after a few seconds. This no longer happens, and a representative from the Sleep As Android app (NOT the Fitbit app) says that the functionality was broken with the last Fitbit update. The implication was that Fitbit might be looking into it, so that's what I'm looking to find out.

I use the standard Fitbit app, nothing more (do not use Sleep As Android). My Versa 2 and app are up to date. My Android uses version 8 (no update available for my phone).

Ah I see, that makes more sense. We're definitely dealing with different issues. If it's just the compatibility between your phone and the Versa 2 though, it should still work? I think the Versa 2 is compatible with Android 7.0 and up.

However I'm pretty sure (I may be wrong) that the most recent update to the Fitbit app (and accordingly the Versa 2 itself) requires Android 10 or higher. If your app auto-updated-- not sure if it can do this with an incompatible OS-- you maybe be able to fix your problem by looking up how to downgrade to the previous version you were using. I see that as a solution on a lot of forums.

But either way, my original inquiry is specifically about the Sleep As Android app. I don't mind the Fitbit Sleep tracking and sometimes I'll check it, but I feel like it will trigger sometimes even if I'm NOT sleeping. Additionally, most of the interesting details and feature are hidden behind the premium paywall-- not interested in that.

I like Sleep As Android as an app because it provides interesting feedback, functions as an alarm, and actually starts/stops recording when I deliberately go to bed and when I actually wake up.

G'day TomDG8,

I have the same issues with the Versa 3 and Sleep as android app not connecting since the latest Fitbit update, exactly as you described. I'm hearing you.

Today the Versa 3 watch updated itself, but I still have the same issue.

Can't wait to hear solution from Fitbit...

Hi everybody! Thank you for your messages and information.

Our team is aware that the latest Fitbit App for Android, does not show the sleep record to some users, and are working on a solution for it.

Please keep an eye for any app update that might be available.

I appreciate your patience and understanding till this gets solved.

@TomDG8 , Thank you for your messages.

If the Sleep As Android app isn't syncing with the Fitbit App you'll need to remove the connection from both accounts and relink them again.

More about this can be read here

How do I connect my Fitbit account with another app?

if this still not solves the issue, please contact the developers of Sleep As Android to see if they have updated their app to get the info from our latest update.

Hope this helps you all further.
