Versa 2 - multiple apps - not connected please make sure mobile app is running and bluetooth is on

I'm experiencing this issue on brand new Versa 2, Android (latest update),  Samsung Galaxy S9.

 

While watch generally syncs fine there's general connectivity for instance music controls work (with two bluetooth connections). 

 

all apps have all possible permissions, bluetooth is on and connected, Fitbit app is running, and yet 

the apps I I'm experiencing this with are Uber and Agenda and give me: not connected please make sure fitbit mobile app is running and bluetooth is on.

Does the Fitbit app have permission to run in the background? 

Have you turned power management off for the Fitbit app? 

Music control only works through the Versa Classic, not through both BT connections. 

 

I assume you get notifications.
