Versa 2 not receiving text messages

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just got my Versa 2 for Christmas and I cannot get it to pick up text messages. It will get notifications from my other apps, but not text messages. I have an iPhone 6s, does it have something to do with that? Because my husband has an iPhone X and he connected his phone to my Versa and text messages came through right away. But as soon as we paired my phone back to it, it wouldn't work again. I have tried all the trouble shooting tips and tricks and nothing seems to be working. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi @Hildreth13 - this problem has been ongoing since the summer and Fitbit still hasn’t found out how to fix it. Your phone should not matter.

I have my phone on silent and when I receive a text message from someone it just shows *text message* the one “fix” is if you go to...

settings - notifications - show previews - then select “ALWAYS”

I hope that works, let me know if it doesn’t but it boggles my mind Fitbit hasn’t been able to fix this yet.

Yes, this did work. Thank you so much!!

I thought I had tried that, but I think what happened is I didn't 're-sync' it all after I tried it.

Another question for you. It seems that almost every time I do something on my watch or go into the Fitbit app on my phone, my bluetooth pairing always gets lost and I have to re-pair it. Have you heard of this before? It kind of drives me crazy because I have to re-pair multiple times a day.

Thanks again!!

Hi @Hildreth13 - I’m so glad the work around fixed! I know the connection issue that you mentioned has been rearing it’s ugly head and has effected many users so do not worry you are not the only one. Sometimes that stems from your device being connected to too many Bluetooth devices (headphone, speakers) so whenever you get a free minute double check your open Bluetooth connections to see if you have too many cooks in the kitchen. You can also try resetting your device along with turning your Bluetooth on/off. I apologize if you have already done those methods.

here is a helpful Fitbit link that dives deeper into the reason why your device my not be connecting.

Here is a link showing how you can reset your Versa 2

I hope those help! Have a wonderful day.

I have an Android and have the same problem. It worked for three weeks then stopped about a week ago. I had to install a third party text app to get it to work again...now if I could get the sleep tracking to start working right again it would be great. So many problems and I've only had it a month

@Hildreth13 Thanks for getting back. I'm glad to hear that the tips mentioned above helped you. It's pretty weird that when you're changing something on your watch, it doesn't sync anymore. Could you provide me with more details about what kind of changes are you doing? Have you tried this syncing troubleshooting

@DDavidson94 Thanks for continue helping users.

@EvilynTent It's nice to see you on the Community. Thanks for the details mentioned. I would like you to check these scenarios that might affect that you get sleep stages.

The times that I really notice it is when I go onto my watch to check my activity for the day. After I go back out of it it seem to lose the connection. This might be a weird question, but does wifi matter? Because it seems when I'm in my home is when it's at its worst. Yesterday I had to re-pair with bluetooth more than 5 times before noon until I finally decided to call it quits. Our wifi is good at home though so I can't believe that causes the issue. It's just very odd to me.

Also the only thing I have connected otherwise to my Bluetooth is my car (Sync), but that's only connected when I'm actually in my car. So when I'm not in there my Fitbit is the only thing connected.

I don't have anything else connected besides my car (Sync), but that's only connected when I'm actually in my car.

I will see if the troubleshooting tips help. Thanks!

@Hildreth13 Thanks for details shared. A good internet connection will help your watch to connect smoothly with your app.

Hope I can continue seeing you around. Keep sharing any tips for others. 😀
