Versa 2 vs charge 2

I have a new versa2 and an old charge 2. I set up the versa via the same email.  I can't sync them both.  Do they have to have a separate email? I can't do that because my daughters charge 2 is synced to my alternate email.

Versa 2 and Charge 2 should be able to both be on the same account, and the fact that you were able to add the Versa 2 with the Charge 2 still showing in the app confirms this.  If you are unable to sync one of these, it might be that the other one is nearby.  Try moving far way from the other device.

Thank you. I opened your link and found some confusing advice. Does this
paragraph mean that I can still have them both on the same account, but can
only use or recognize one at a time?

"Note that you can't connect multiple devices that use the Fitbit App
Gallery to one account. For Fitbit Charge 3, Fitbit Charge 4, Fitbit Ionic,
Fitbit Inspire series, Fitbit Luxe, Fitbit Sense, and Fitbit Versa series,
only connect one of these devices to your account at a time."

The usual case for using 2 trackers, and what I was assuming you wanted, is to switch between 2 different trackers at different times, such as one for daytime and one for going out in evening, or such.  If you wear them both at same time, that will only create confusion.  The phone app (and main Fitbit database) cannot keep 2 different sets of data for one account.

This section, just below the link above, explains how it will treat that:

If you truly want to keep 2 sets of data, you do need them to be  in 2 different accounts with different emails, and keep logging out of one account and then into the other.

You mention already using your alternate email.  There are many places you can get more email addresses for free.  Comcast I think allows 8 email addresses. But others are readily available from Yahoo, Google (gmail), and many other places.
