Versa 2 won't receive notifications from my phone

I just got the Versa 2 yesterday and everything was working fine. Today it stopped receiving all notifications: texts, calls, Fitbit messages etc. I spent about 2 hours trying everything under the sun listed on the Fitbit help pages as well as other online forums and nothing is working. I’ve restarted my phone and the Versa 2, changed all the notification settings, reconnected and disconnected the devices, rebooted them, checked the DND and sleep modes (they are both off) and still nothing. What the heck? I really don’t want to return this item. Please help!!

Hi there, @hagelslag. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 2 before reaching out. I understand where your concern is coming from.

While reading your post, I was wondering if before getting the Versa 2 you had another Fitbit device? If so, did remove your old Fitbit device from your Fitbit account and phone's Bluetooth settings? Are you using the same phone?

It seems that your Versa 2 cannot connect properly to your Fitbit app since you haven't yet forgotten the connection between your old Fitbit device and the phone's Bluetooth which would explain the connectivity issues you're running into. With that said, try the steps below:

  • Unpair your new and old Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your new Versa 2 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Versa 2
  • Set up notifications again.

If you're indeed using an iOS device, please make sure to verify the information shared by @SunsetRunner.

Hope that helps!

Hello @hagelslag

You you use an iPhone to connect to your Fitbit Versa 2? I ask because this step is missed often: go to your iPhone Bluetooth and find your Versa 2 on the list of connected devices. Next to Versa 2 on the list there is an information icon (looks like a blue circle with the letter i in it) Tap that and make sure your Share System Notifications are turned on. Also on your iPhone tap Settings then Notifications. Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked. For each app that sends notifications, tap Settings then tap Notifications the name of the app and verify these settings:

  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show PreviewsAlways or When Unlocked

For Android phones the most common missed setting is to make sure the Fitbit app can run in the background on your phone.

😃 Hopefully this helps. Please let me know
