Versa 3 - Not As Water-Resistant as Advertised

Hi, I thought it would be great to post this as knowledge for other people as what happened to my Versa 3 was quite frustrating.

I had taken this watch swimming as it was advertised as water resistant up to 50 meters. Although I did not go anywhere near that depth, I came out to find that my watch would not turn on. Battery Life was at 60% so I know battery hadn't died. I also made sure to clean the water with fresh bottled water to really have it a good clean. I have only had the watch exactly 1 year and 6 months so the watch is fairly new. I also keep it in good condition as I never wear it showering and never put it on while putting on lotions. I definitely followed the wear and care that fitbit provided as I try to keep all my electronics in best condition. Even with everything I did to keep it in best condition, the watch stopped working and the top of the watch lifted from its base. Also my mobile syncing device is iOS.

As this watch is advertised for fitness, I wore this watch every day through work outs, adventures, and exercises. I wish fitbit would ask to review the watch as I had asked them why this happened to my watch so I could learn from this and they could not provide me with an answer. If they reviewed people's actual product, then they could review people's products and issue more closely and also see how in good shape it is and how this is either an error in manufacturing or and issue with the overall model

Since the standard warranty for fitbit is only 1 year, and also I did everything that fitbit recommends, I unfortunately will still have to buy a new watch if I want to replace my old watch. Fit was nice enough to provide a small discount but even so, I would have to buy a replacement watch for quite a bit more than what I originally had to buy it as I was able to get my originally watch at a discount.

Overall if I had know in the future about this and fitbit watches extreme sensitivity to water, I would have not taken it in at all. Or at least bought a 2 year warranty to protect oneself even more.

Do any diving into a pool? Put the watch in front of a strong stream, like the filter out pipe? Deeper water while in the ocean?

It is really water resistant to water pressure,

The 50 meters is tested by slowly lowering the pressure while in a tank with stationary water.
