Versa 3 stopped tracking distance

My versa 3 stopped tracking milage a few days ago. If I start a workout like a walk or hike, it tracks the distance in the workout. However, it does not track distance in my everyday walking. This was not an issue until just a few days ago. I've restarted the Fitbit and my phone, but nothing has fixed it. Help?

I discovered a work around today! If you set your stride length instead of having them estimate it, the milage works again! I found an easy calculator online to estimate it for me. Maybe one-day I'll truly figure it out. But I'm ok with estimating right now.

To set your stride length on a Fitbit Versa 3 using the Fitbit app, you can do the following:
  1. Go to the Today tab
  2. Tap Exercise days
  3. Tap Menu
  4. Tap Activity settings
  5. Tap Stride Length
  6. Adjust your stride length

I'm having the exact same problem.  It's tracking my steps, sleep, heartrate, stairs and basically everything else but not tracking any distance unless I'm using it on a workout.  I also reset the Fitbit multiple times and it's still doesn't work.

Hi Joe

Am afraid it is a wider issue, lots of users with the same problem in the past week or so. I have had 3 chats with support and tried every possible fix but issue still persists. My case been referred to Higher Level Support 3 days ago but they are not able to advise when/if they will respond with a resolution. I think it’s going to be Hello Garmin for me and quite a few other fed up Fitbit users.

Kind of reassuring to know it's not just happening to me and my other half....

I've done reboots and nothing changed.  Pretty bloody annoying.

I have noticed that too, my Fitbit stopped tracking distance unless I am in an active exercise. Does anyone from Fitbit read this message board?

Hi Joenad

Sorry you have had the same problem.

I think it is unlikely any humans actually read this forum, prob all AI driven.

I have been reading on other forums about the increase in Fitbit user issues which seem to have increased since the purchase by Google.

I'm having the same issue. Hopefully someone will find a resolution for us. I wonder if it's connected to the Google merge?
