Versa Counting Steps in Error after I wake up

All,

Is anyone having issues after waking up the next day and having steps accounted for?! I’m only asking, because in the past 2 days I accumulated 34k steps and I haven’t been wearing it. All those times are coming from after I wake up the next morning. I tried shutting it down and re-syncing my Fitbit. It’s just pretty irritating at the moment. I would like it to be accurate for my steps. Now I don’t know where I’m at. I would love to keep this Versa, but it’s getting annoying now. I haven’t had it for a week. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all!!!

This appears to be a very common problem if you peruse the threads.  I'm curious, did you have the Versa sitting and then removed from the charger while it accumulated ghost steps or was it just lying out somewhere.  Mine seems to only happen when I put it in the charger and remove in the morning although I haven't verified for certainty that is the only time it happens.  I do know that if I wear it overnight, it's fine in the morning.

I actually had mines on my laptop. And I did wear it for a couple of nights. But the past two nights I just left it. As soon as I wake up, my steps sky-rocketed. Sighs I might have to return this. I loved it when I first got it

Same thing is happening with mine. Brands new out of the box... Charged it up and let it sit until this morning. 3,000 steps logged!  What??  Very irritating!  I hope this gets fixed somehow.

I just woke up and got 12,000 steps, all while the device was on the charger! Is this a glitch with the system or the device? Can I reset the steps back to 0?

I actually tried to google and research this and it was a no. 😞 but I did try other things. I did a shut down and kept it on my charger. And it worked where no steps were accounted for. And last night I actually slept with it on. But yes I do agree that this should be fixed. I’m actually wondering if there is a setting that is on that we should be aware of. If not, then this should be fixed immediately. It ruins my whole day.

Since I discovered this error, I put the Versa on the charger every night and the mystery steps happened to me twice (that I'm aware of).  One morning, I awoke to 10k plus steps, another 9K plus steps.  But other mornings were at the correct 0 steps.  I tried multiple times of attaching and removing the Versa to the charger both with and without the charger being powered on and I can't duplicate the problem on my own.

Unfortunately today is the last day of my 14 day Best Buy return period and I'm going to have to return the watch as this is a core function failure I cannot accept.  I have yet to see any Fitbit support correspondence acknowledging this is a system wide problem and they are working on a fix.  If I read of such and that a fix has been implemented I'll try the watch again as I really don't have any other major issues.  I currently have the good ole' reliable but now discontinued One so I will go back to that for now.  I'm assuming the Charge 2 does not exhibit this problem, should I try that model.  I really wanted the Versa to work though.  The perils of being a beta tester I guess.

Yeah I really love this Versa. I actually came from the Charge HR to the Versa, which is a big change for me. I guess I’ll just to fight t out and see if I can find any resolutions. I’ve been lucky the past two nights. Thanks for your input.

Fitbit Support has offered to replace mine under warranty.  If you decide to keep yours, you might want to contact them and see if you can get a replacement.  I myself am just not confident this is an individual tracker problem but rather a tracker wide problem and I don't have confidence a replacement will perform any better until they determine and fix the cause.

I actually have Best Buy’s 2 YEAR Geek Squad Product Replacement Plan. I’m not sure if that’s the same thing.

Same experience here. Been waking up to ny Versa with hundreds, even 3000 steps. No response from Fitbit?
