Versa GPS and data usage

Looking into the Versa, but really wish it had built-in GPS! I currently don't have unlimited data on my cellphone, so I'm curious if the GPS function (through the cellphone) uses up data from my mobile plan. Does anyone know the answer? Will the GPS be able to function if the phone is on airplane mode? Also, does it eat the battery on the phone fast when using GPS tracking?

Yes, it does. Not GPS per se but Fitbit mobile app interacting with fitbit servers. You need data ON.

No.

As it will enable the location services, yes it will use your battery. Depending on your phone model, it will be more or less. But, yes, it will cause some battery drain.
