I have a Versa Lite that is just about 6 years old now. Intermittently I've experienced odd battery drains, such as the battery being at 100% at night and then upon waking in the morning (I wear it to bed to track my sleep) the battery will be critically low. It seems to happen out of nowhere. Last night after wearing it all day I placed it on the charger before taking a shower. It was at about 53% charge. About an hour later it had charged to 100%, so I put it back on and settled into bed. I woke about 8 hours later and the watch seemed dead. I held the buttons on both sides to restart and once it did, the battery was only at 15%. I use it to track my exercise each weekday morning. I had it on the charger for about an hour again, and it was around 85% or so. I figured good enough and put it back on to start my exercise.
I did read the suggestions for extending battery life. I changed my screen brightness to auto but not sure how much of a difference that's going to make. I have notifications turned off except for hourly reminders to move (which I need since I have a mostly desk job), and the only other thing I track is my heart rate. I just don't understand how the battery can be at 100% and then drop so far down 8 hours later, especially while I'm asleep. It's pretty frustrating. Like I've said, I've had it close to 6 years so it's obviously out of warranty. I'm thinking of getting rid of it and getting a new one.
Has anyone else had issues like this, especially with a watch that's quite a few years old?

@jessmac78 Rechargeable batteries have a lifespan. One range I read is 3-6 years, depending on how you use the device. Everything your describe about your battery's behavior is typical of an older battery at its end of life.
The suggestions for extending battery will help when a battery is newer. They won't resurrect an older battery.
Your decision to switch should be made on features that are important to you, because your experience with a Versa Lite is at the better end of normal.

Hi @jessmac78 - if the watch never got wet try with phone Bluetooth switched off at night to avoid syncing issues as the cause and also restart it.
An old battery should still be able to sustain at least a day or more if the watch or battery has not suffered damage.
Though it does depend on how often you charged it, as each cycle produces a wear on the battery.
Normal guidelines are a reduction to 80% capacity after 8 years where it will drop 10% quite quickly from 100% and will drop quickly from 10% to 0%.
It's certainly worth trying a different clock face too in case it has a problem.
