I have had my Versa for about 5 months now and I have faced the infamous "sync issue" 3 times. the first 2 times ended up factory resetting it (Versa > Settings > About > Factory Reset)
Although this fixed the sync issue, it is a painful ordeal to go through the initial setup and firmware update again so I started digging into user reports for telltale signs and everything seemed to point to bluetooth limitations.
So I went ahead and removed (unpaired) Versa in my phone bluetooth settings (NOT Fitbit APP but phone settings). Versa synced immediately. Try this before you trash your Versa.

I read many posts about syncing issues with no solution...
Your solution works for me. I do have to sync manually,
however, before this it didnt sync at all.
