I just want to confirm something that is implied, but not said explicitly.
My versa is connected to my phone. Always. I know this because I am getting notifications. GPS is enabled.
Question: the versa won't show me a map of my walk.
The Surprise: The versa is good enough to detect that I am walking, but can't seem to turn on the map feature on its own. These forums imply that it will only show me a map of my walk if I first, manually (!! manually !!) go to the run app and click on "let's go".
Have I got it? thanks
thanks

Hello @gerdnaxela and welcome to the Help forums. Your Versa is performing exactly like it is supposed to and I will explain why. Fitbit trackers have two ways of recording exercise, SmartTrack (automatic recognition) and the Exercise app. Some models only have SmartTrack. Your Versa has both.
SmartTrack does not have any GPS connectivity. You will not get a map. If you want a map, you need to start and stop the exercise with the Exercise app. When you started walking, your Versa used SmartTrack to record it.
The Versa, Ionic and Charge 3 DO have an automatic run detection in the Run settings. If you have it enabled and start running, the tracker will vibrate and ask if you want to track with GPS. You will get a map from that point on. This feature doesn't exist for walking.
I'm sorry that these features weren't clear to you as you put your Versa though its paces. Here is a link to the Versa Manual. Here is a link to a Help article that will give you more information.
I hope this helps.

Hello @gerdnaxela, thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. It's nice to see you too @LZeeW thanks for all your help.
@gerdnaxela I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for posting your questions. I have moved your post from the iOS board to the Versa board as this situation is more related to the watch than to the app itself.
Now, adding to what @LZeeW mentioned, you will need to start a "walk" activity from the Versa, using the Exercise tile, for the watch to connect to your phone through GPS. The reason you need to do this manually is because GPS connectivity consumes more battery on your watch. If this function were to be automatic, the Versa's battery will drain faster.
I hope this resolves your inquiry, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.
