I currently have an Alta and separate Garmin to track my runs. Would like a watch that dies everything. Wondering wether to get a versa? Will this track my runs without having to take my phone? Also does it link to strava? My husband has a garmin which is greaf and has all the functions i want for the same price as the versa however I like the fitbit app to link with friends challenges etc

Yes your Fitbit accoint links to Strava, and you can use the fitbitFapp with your alta to record the runs to strava. . You do need GPS to track your Fitbit event.
Now since to transfer to Strava, GPS is required, and the Versa doesdinot have GPS but depends on the phone, yes you will need to carry the phone.
You might be happier with the ionic, that does have GPS. and no phone required.

I would advise against getting the Versa to use for running. You can find many threads on this forum about the Connected GPS Inaccuracy, and actually many of us have exchanged our Versas for other fitness watches because of how inaccurate the GPS was on the Versa. For example, when some people run 6 miles according to Strava, the Versa only calculates 4.5. Hopefully someday they'll have a fix for this, but for most people, it doesn't seem to be working correctly yet.
