After 10 months my battery suddenly started requiring charge everyday when before I could go 2½ days between charges. Is this typical?

Hi there, @Danibear. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Versa. I understand where your concern is coming from.

Keep in mind that your Versa was designed to last 6+ days, but this also depends on how frequently you use all the features of your watch. Said that, I recommend charging your Fitbit watch with a USB port from a computer or a UL-certified outlet into the wall and then turn off all the features that you don’t use that much.

After following the above suggestion, please check this help article for more tips and recommendations. Additionally, please make sure that your Versa is up-to-date. For more information, see How do I update my Fitbit device?

If none of the above seems to help, the best way to get help for this problem is to chat with us online or give us a call. Click here to get connected.

We hope your issue is solved soon.

Hello there, I'm having the same issue with my fitbit versa 2...the battery usually lasted for 3-4 days - all of a sudden I need to charge it daily. Turning off bluetooth on my phone, is not an option, as I use other devices, like bluetooth headset etc.

Nothing changed in the settings of my versa in the last weeks - can u please let us know what's going on ? why the battery of the versa is failing and draining so quickly ?

ps Im using iOS15.5

I also have the same issue with my FitBit Versa. The battery drains too quickly after charging & use (or no use!). It doesn't last 3+ or 6+ days. Not even 2 days. The Versa I have was used by someone before me, but only for about 2 months. I acquired this Versa & joined FitBit in Dec 2021.   What is it that makes a FitBit device's battery life shorter & less durable than the specifications stipulate from new & on the box packaging? "4+ DAY BATTERY LIFE". Nope! Sorry.  Unless the actual batteries built in to some FitBit devices are sub-standard, lower quality than they should be or are prone to malfunction. Made in China, designed in San Francisco, CA, USA.  All it says (footnote) on box is "battery life varies based on use and other factors."

Will continue using my Versa, but I'm not entirely happy with it. Thanks though!

I've resolved that I will have to get a new (different brand) device. After my initial post, my Versa's battery had drained before the day ended. After charging all night it still wouldn't come back on. I left in on the charger for two days and it came back on after that time. Since then I've had to charge it daily.  Today it's not even tracking my steps (after wearing it for 6.5 hrs I have zero steps).

I'm tremendously disappointed and it's time for me to move on from Fitbit.

I'm thinking  buying another brand at this stage - I can't keep charging that daily -it's pain... One reason why I liked the fitibit was the long battery life and the user interface - it's defo not the case anymore and I did not change anything on it and before was lasting a long time.

it's also annoying the lack of support...'call us if it's not working', then we called them out and they disappeared....

Yes me too! 😞

I charged my watch over night to 100%,  went for a 5k run this am and now the battery is flat.  I have noticed this has gradually got worse over the past week, whereas I used to get 4+ days before even thinking of charging. I don`t really use any other aps on my watch apart from tracking activities?!?!

There must be some design & manufacturing malfunction directly connected with the FitBit Versa batteries. Never-mind Versa 2 and 3 FitBits.

How can the moderators like @MarreFitbit know exactly how to resolve issues like this if the issues are with the already-bought and already-being-used FitBit devices? It's where the FitBits are manufactured that I perceive the issue lies. The very hardware components, especially the batteries in these things. How does one DIY to open it up and have a look? What kind of batteries are they and can they be replaced, and where?

Oh well, not expecting another moderator to answer here, but if one does, then please contact FitBit Head Office or the Technical Department!!!

😑🤔Thanks!!!

Hi Whitkim,

see if you can contact FitBit Support directly via chat, call, Twitter and a few other ways. You must go to myhelp.fitbit.com, then click on Versa 2 image for Versa 2 specific help to resolve your issue a.s.a.p. Or, what I used yesterday, scroll down and click on "Get Support" under Let's Talk (grey block).

Hope this helps you get your Versa 2 right again!!!

100% the same.  within the last 2 weeks, all of a sudden battery drained but my screen is also sluggish.  Like something was seriously taking over the CPU or something.  Haven't done a thing with apps or screens in at least 4 months...  Something changed.  I've done the factory reset a few times, then started going in to uninstall anything that I could along with disabling GPS anywhere I could...  Same issue remains, pretty frustrating.

You are very welcome.
Here is the way I did it and maybe this will help others as well:

  1. Sync your watch so you do not lose any data before you reset the device.
  2. Go to settings on the watch and reset to factory default.(while this is going on go to your app on your phone and continue)
  3. Go to your app, remove the watch from the Fitbit app.
  4. Go to bluetooth settings on your phone and remove the device from remembered devices. (forget this device)
  5. When the watch reboots, start the entire setup process again as if it is for a new device.
  6. Let it update, will take about a half hour.
  7. When it is fully updated, setup wifi on the watch. This should resolve it but if it doesn't try one more step:
  8. Set the screen from auto brightness to dim. (not much a difference anyway)
  9. The watch should last the correct amount of time if all of this was done properly.

My conclusion from this set of steps is that there was an update that didn't take on a lot of peoples older Versas and was causing a conflict thus pinging the watch more than it should, draining more battery because of it. I am now happily getting 20% of battery a day on the Versa 1(which is normal) this will be better on the Versa 2 as it has a better battery. Somewhere along the line, an update got botched and it gets stuck in a loop thus needing the entire watch to be reset to to factory to really take the new update. Doing this allows the watch to skip any bad software updates and skip directly to a working one. Hope this helps
