Versa display cracked

Having had a Charge 2 I decided to purchase a Versa for swim tracking. I was sitting down and the Versa slipped from my wrist and fell face down. The screen badly cracked even though it fell less than 2 feet. Not only is it very noticeable but it is no longer waterproof. I was informed not only does Fitbit not fix this but they do not sell nor is a replacement available enabling me to take the Versa to be fixed privately. Can you imagine buying a watch or any product that can not be fixed? It was only after the glass broke that I saw all the comments about the glass fragility in community posts I believe that Fitbit should have recommended a screen protector in their advertising. I certainly would have purchase one. I have never had a watch or any other product with a glass screen that could not be repaired. Basically Fitbit is saying your Versa can’t be fixed throw it away and the 200$.

@Marilynps If you purchased with a credit card, you should check with your bank. Often, credit cards offer extended purchase protection. Additionally, you should check consumer protection laws in your area. In another thread, a commenter mentioned that there are laws in her area preventing manufacturers from refusing to cover "wear and tear" damage for the first 6 months of ownership.

Depending on where you purchased and when, the retailer might also exchange it for you.

I learned the hard way about screen protectors when I scratched the screen of my Ionic while making my bed. Good thing I was within the 30 day return window from Amazon and they replaced it for me!

Thanks. I will check with my credit card company. But I think the Fitbit
community should take action. These finite are made for e recoding and as
such may be scratched or broken during regular activities. If thi is the
case Fitbit should supply them with warnings, and screen protectors. I
think advertisements are misleading. I have dropped a water glass from
the same height with out breaking it and never had a watch glad break like
this. That they don’t sell replacements means this new Bersa is useless
for swimming

Unfortunately there is no solution. There is no warranty for the glass.
Fitbit does not repair broken glass. Nor do they sell replacement glass so
that I could take it be fixed by a private technician. So the solution
they provide is to throw away my new (3 months) Versa.

Any watch, smartphone, tablet is manufactured so the glass screen can be
replaced. How can a company like fitbit manufacturer a product that can’t
be repaired?

Fitbit does not repair any of it's devices.  They consider them all disposable.  The labor to repair would exceed what the device is worth.

I understood that Fitbit does not do repairs!!!
I asked to purchase the glass screen so I could have a an external
technician fix my Versa. They do not sell them. I dropped the watch while
sitting down. It slipped off my wrist. The glass practically shattered two
opposite corners plus three cracks diagonally across. A drinking glass
doesn’t break like this from a fall of about 15 inches.
I never had a watch, smartphone, tablet where the glass screen broke.
However, they all can be replaced. I am upset that there was no
suggestions regarding the use of screen protector because of the fragility
of the glass/ the ease it can be scratched. I had a couple of Fitbit
0nes, charge, .Charge HR2. I never had any problems with the glass screens
and I never thought that this might be a problem Had there been a
suggestion I would have purchased a screen protector!!! I certainly would
not have spent over 200$ for a watch that has to be thrown away after three
months

Thanks for your suggestion, My Credit Card Company may reimburse me.  However,  I am angry with Fit bit for not mentioning in advertisements that it is advisable to purchase a screen protector. All of this could have been  avoided has i known in advance that one was needed.  The supposedly super-hard glass scratches and breaks much more easily than glass usually used in watches.

I get it.  Unlike Apple they don't fix their devices.  However, I wanted to purchase a glass and take it privately to be fixed by a technician.  Not only does fitbit  not sell replacement glass or suggest where it might be obtained, they informed me that the cracked screen on a Versa can not be fixed!!!  Had i know this ahead of time I would have ppurchsed a screen protector, or more likely< decided not to Purchase the Versa.  I see it as a DESIGN FLAW!!  The frame does not protect the glass as it does on my Charge 2!

Just had exactly the same customer service from FitBit. It never even occurred to me that the glass couldn't be replaced. Should have gone with an Apple Watch.
