Versa fitbit pay security

I have attached my cards to the wallet and today was my first day trying it out. I am now concerned about 2 things. The first is that I tried to do a $215 purchase and it declined with the error message to refer to my phone. After unlocking my phone and not seeing anything I reattempted the purchase and it worked straight away with no asking of security code or card pin (In australia all paywave over $100 need pin verification).

A few hours later when doing a $50 purchase I put the versa to the eftpos machine but had forgotten to press the left side button to activate the wallet but before I could bring my arm up to turn press it, the eftpos machine accepted the payment.

Shouldn't I need to tell the watch I wanna pay before it takes payment and how can I get it to ask for the security code or pin for the large buys?

@BloopBloop Welcome to the Fitbit Community.

In Australia you can make payments under $100 AU with your Fitbit Versa without pressing and holding the side button. You just need to hold your watch near the payment terminal and the payment will go through.

Depending on the device lock setting you choose, you must enter your PIN code to unlock your Versa each time you put it on your wrist or the first time you make a payment since last taking off your watch. For instructions to use the device lock on your Fitbit watch please follow these steps.
