I have bought my older primary aged child a Fitbit Versa for his birthday. He really wanted a fully functional smart watch and I felt the versa had much to offer in comparison to the apple watch for him.
I am aware that Fitbit make the ace now for children but this isn’t the kind of device he was hoping for.
Now I can’t seem to find out how to set it up for him short if giving a wrong DOB in the set up process.
Moderator edit: subject for clarity
Since Versa was not created for children, you should use the youngest DOB you have available. You can also make a suggestion for younger DOBs in Feature Suggestions.
I have a quick question for you!! I am looking at a Christmas gift for my oldest - we are also looking at the Versa, as it is much more up his alley than the 'Ace'. I was wondering though, do you find the Versa to have a large fact? I have a different fitbit so I am not sure the actual size. He's 11.
My son is 9, and like many in his school wanted a Versa for his birthday, so I got him one, and he loves it !
I feel, to be advised by a manufacture what I can and can't purchase for my child is firstly very closed, and should not be a decision they should make, but a decision made by the parent.
Move out of old technology thinking and start thinking for tomorrow, Family settings with the correct parental controls enabling any watch I wish to purchase for my children. Isn't business about revenue ? Think of all those lost sales... seriously.
I'm in the same boat and I'm sure many many more will be having the same issue after the the Christmas wrapping has been put in the bin.
I have purchased a fitbit Versa for my 9 year old for Christmas as a fitness-smartwatch. Still having my own original Pebble (which Fitbit acquired in 2016) I was hoping for something that would offer the same smart watch capabilities + the fitbit activity tracking world. The reviews supported this view. Now it seems that I can not add him to my account unless I get him a Fitbit Ace or lie about his age. God knows what the 10 year age inaccuracy will do to the fitness monitoring!
The deliberate product- age restriction they have used here is frustrating, rigid and short sighted (also feels patronising) Message to fitbit - PLEASE fix this. fix this now! In fact, fix this sometime yesterday!
I have purchased 2 versas for my kids and I cant believe that I cant set them up because of their age!!!!
No where was it on the packaging 18+ only.
So ridiculous. Wish I had purchased a different smart watch.
Agree Fitbit that the age restriction on the Fitbit versa needs to be changed. 2 gifts for my kids now can’t be set up without lying about their age. Hope you’re not using fitness data for anything.
Really sorry I didn't research this properly - have just bought a versa for my 11year old & I can't believe I can't register it up for him. Incredibly frustrating. Please change this - he doesn't want an Ace! Also, while I'm on it, please make spotify available on my versa...
Same issue. The Versa was given to my daughter as a birthday gift by a family member. I have examined the box for Fitbit Versa and an age restriction is NOT printed on the box. How was the family member supposed to know that my daughter wouldn't be able to use a Versa?
My kids have child accounts on the computer I am using right now. Why doesn't Fitbit have child accounts for the Versa?
Hi I have bought versa lite for 8 yr old as he does not want other models. Now I am unable to setup his account and I can not attach to my account as I already have versa . My son does not have phone or email how do I setup his account?
Ditto. I can’t BELIEVE this. Especially since it’s tracking their fitness, you can’t just lie about their age!!!
So frustrating! My poor daughter was just in tears being this was the only thing she truly wanted from Santa! After taking a week to really try figuring out how to set it up for her to finally come to conclusion that she’s wearing the tracker based on my info is unacceptably! Agree with all of you so much for providing our youth with false fitness information when our country has an obesity crisis!
Best AnswerWas just debating getting one of these for my 9 year old!
So glad I didnt now 😞
I love my fitbit,my daughter wants one so bad but the ace/ace2 is not what she's looking for.
