I went into shallow water for about 10 minutes the other day. My Versa immediately died. No data, no clock face, no nothing. It is my SECOND Versa (the heart rate monitor stopped for no apparent reason on the first one) and I have already been involved with customer support with my first Versa. They take several email chains to respond properly and then they had me send a video of what wasn't working (even though they could track that my HRM had not been on). After all that they said they would send me a new watch and it took over a week. I received it on July 15. Today is August 24 and now I need another Versa. Because customer support is so difficult, I simply returned my Versa to the store where it was purchased and got a new one. I hope this one lasts more than a few weeks.
My advice: Do not get it wet. It is false advertising that you can swim with it!

Many users do swim with their versa everyday, sorry to hear about your experience.

Where on the Fitbit blog does Fitbit report that many have found that the versa is not for swimming.

I swim and shower with mine. No issues.
I’m sorry you’re having a bad experience.

I hope you were able to get a replacement. I really do think it's just the luck of the draw with smart watches and waterproofing. I've had no problem with mine, but sometimes the seals don't hold. The first thing I did when my Versa arrived was jump in the pool. I swim 3 days a week with it with no problem, but I was fortunate to get one with a good seal. I would ask for a replacement and they should honor it if water damage caused the problem. Good luck.

I swim with my versa, so far no problems, I bought the versa because it is water resistant and you can swim with it. Fitbit advertise their versa to be water resistant up to 50 meters. I don’t think their production line runs any kind of water seal test for each watch that is water resistan. I have read a lot of posts where the versa watches have failed after getting wet. I think everyone who buys a water resistant watch should give it the water test ASAP. Most stores have a 14 day return policy. This way If it failed you would be able to take it back to the store for replacement, this would save you the hassle of going through customer support and dealing with lost time on waiting for a replacement. I feel for everyone that have their versa fail after getting wet and the horrible time it takes to get a replacement. Customer support is our only resource to get it replaced so if you still have your warranty I would jump in the pool or get your versa wet and just keep replacing it. A good one has to come your way sooner or later.

My sympathy to anyone who's had problems when swimming. Any faults like that should be able to get a replacement under warranty.
It might be worth pointing out though, that even if 100 people had found their Versa not water resistant, that would be a very low percentage out of 1 million plus sold (0.01% vs 99.99%).
(I don't think there've been 100 people reporting the problem here, which mainly has people having problems not the other million plus who probably don't :))

Who cares about your percentage? When someone buy a water resistant watch that mean the watch is supposed to be water resistant. That is it. The product defective percentage is manufacturer's problem, not their customers.

I'm sorry @DasKapital. I wasn't trying to diminish the nuisance of having to get the watch replaced. It just seems to me there are not very many people having problems with water resistance now.
Yes, it's Fitbit's problem and I believe they replace any defective watches that are damaged by water getting into the watch.
