I did a factory reset on my versa and a screen came up saying too download the fitbit app. Well now that's all it's been doing for the last few hours. Eventually it will stop and screen will go back but when i push a button to turn on, the same thing comes up. It says it in different languages also

After you do a factory reset it takes the fitbit back to the state it was when you first got it. The message you are seeing is the prompt to set up the device. You need to go to the app on your phone, go into the account section (the icon looks like an ID card) and select "set up a device". This will then step you through the setup process again.

It needs to have a charge but doesn't need to be on charge. At which point are you getting stuck?

That phone should be ok as it's on the list of supported devices at www.fitbit.com/devices
Is the person you bought it from nearby? If so, they will need to remove the fitbit from their phone's bluetooth settings as that might be blocking the connection.
I'm assuming that you are getting as far as the point where you enter the 4 digit code?!

Ok. So you've downloaded the Fitbit app to your phone. You've created a new fitbit account and it's asked what fitbit you are setting up. Is this where it goes wrong?

After you do a factory reset that's the only thing the fitbit will say until you complete the setup in the fitbit app on your phone. Perhaps this help file will explain it better:

I've had th exact same thing on my Ionic last week. There's a button combo you can do to force it to wipe. Then try and install again, but you must first delete the tracker from the phone.
I'm really worried I ordered and paid for the versa rather than the Ionic free replacement as I believed it would not have the same issue. This is the exact same issue I had on the Ionic.
I followed these steps
Hold all 3 buttons on the watch. Wait for vibrate and the. Remove finger from bottom right.
Now in the app where you have already deleted the tracker .Add a new tracker. It will find the device and then you can set it up.
If successful it will download (wasting about an hour) .but mine failed after this step, as it later goes to get the update to 2.2 mine would not go any further. I've been reading around the forums and it's a bug, something Fitbit are aware of, and is why they sent me a replacement. Which still hasn't arrived btw.
Maybe the replacement will be going back when it turns up. I will follow your progress I'm hopeful this will help you
