I was sitting at my desk with my new Fitbit (less than 24 hours) and felt a buzz, when I looked at the screen it said congratulations you have reached your steps for the day. Which didn't make much sense because I was at 4,500 a few minutes before. When I looked at the screen it said I had taken 151,000 steps. Has this ever happened to anyone? What did you do? Please help! Or I may need to exchange it for a new one.

@rclee5320 welcome to our Fitbit Community! I'm happy to assist you with your Fitbit Versa since it counted a high amount of steps while you were sitting at your desk.
Please restart your Versa as described in this help article. This will refresh your watch internally. After this, check out your profile settings and change the wrist setting to "Non-Dominant" hand. After this, monitor your Versa and see if it stops counting extra steps.
Keep me posted on the outcome!

I am having the same issue. Fitbit support was useless. We need a statement that they understand this is a problem and it needs to get resolved and either a hardware or software fix.
I am debating about returning it as I bought it to track steps and it’s not just a little off it’s drastically off. That is a core function of the device and it should work.
