I've had a Charge 2 for a couple years and the step and miles were very accurate. I got the Versa on Sunday afternoon and set it up then walked a normal route of about 4.5 miles but Versa said almost 8 miles. What caused this?

Many of us are having the same problem! I upgraded from the ONE which was quite accurate so it makes no sense that a more expensive upgrade is not capable of calculating properly. For me it's under counting mileage. For example. I ran 5 miles today. The steps were accurate but the mile count was 3. Tech support told me to go outside (in 20 degrees), find a track and measure a mile then run for 10 minutes and count out 20 steps then measure those steps....What the heck?? The ONE never had a problem automatically calculating stride.

@vadercrhave you checked/adjusted your stride? (Versa --> advanced settings)?

Why should I have to make any adjustments when my Charge 2 worked great without the adjusting of the stride? I've had the Charge 2 and Charge HR and never adjusted anything and they worked. I'll try that though, but that's like the cheap old step counters at your waist.

I went back to my Charge 2 data and calculated the stride length for that, then went on advanced settings and it is exactly the same. Therefore the Versa should give me the same distance on the same walks but doesn't.

Yes it doesn't work. The Versa is just unstable calculating steps

@vadercr "Why should I have to make any adjustments when my Charge 2 worked great without the adjusting of the stride? " -- I wasn't sure if you use them on the same fitbit account or not. Still not sure if you have fixed values or auto-values. If auto, make sure to switch to manual values. You are not using connected-GPS, right?
I wear Charge 2 AND Versa at the same time, one on the left wrist, the other on the right (linked to different fitbit accounts), and when on the treadmill and also walking outside (mostly pavement), they are more or less spot on equal, less than 1% difference. So I am disagreeing strongly with the statement : "The Versa is just unstable calculating steps".
Why you have an almost 100% difference on a 4.5mile walk. I don't know why, but it is NOT because the Versa is unstable. Maybe you are not wearing it right (check tightness), maybe your dominant setting is wrong, maybe your stride is on auto, I don't know.
I strongly recommend to calibrate steps (and HR for that matter) on the treadmill, it is one of the most steady calibration platforms. It will be interesting to know if you still find a near 100% deviation in that case! 🙂

This is my THIRD fitbit. I know how to wear it. The problem is the Versa. It is unreliable while my Charge 2 and the Charge HR were pretty accurate.

I have to agree with vadercr. I have had the Charge and Charge 2 with absolutely no problem with counting steps and mileage. I have had the Versa for two weeks and it is so inaccurate. Example: I ran/walked the treadmill today for 45 minutes. The mileage on the treadmill said 4.11 and the Versa said 3.02. That is a HUGE difference. And yes, I have done what I needed to do to accurately calculate my stride and it still does not work properly. Sadly I have been a Fitbit user since 2013 and I think today I will be switching over to Garmin 😞
