Versa registering driving steps

I heard the Versa counts steps while driving. I didn't think this would bother me too much, but today is day 1 with my Versa and holy cow, I got steps, stairs and an activity of outdoor biking just on my drive to work.

We went out of town this weekend (6 hours away) and spent a lot of time in the car. I had my Alta on.  I didn't have any of these issues. Now surely the Versa shouldn't be that much different right? This might cause me to return this watch and look at different brands. I've been a long time Fitbit user, but this is ridiculous. This shouldn't be so different between models. Between this and not having sleep stages, this watch is a hot mess. I expected more from Fitbit.

I am not going to download some third party app so that I can tell it when I'm driving. That's way too much work for an activity watch. Fitbit, is there any plan to resolve this? I just can't imagine why these two watches would be so different in this aspect.

It's great to see you around @hoofbeats95.

I am sorry to hear about the information that your Versa is recording while driving. Fitbit has worked hard to make sure that our devices do not pick up false steps or activity recordings while driving. Unless you're driving in a car with a very stiff transmission or on bumpy roads, your device should not give you any false readings.

If your device does record false activity, you can learn how to delete the data in the help article How do I edit or delete Fitbit data and activities?About the sleep information, in this article you will be able to see some tips you can follow.

Let me know if you need anything else. Smiley Happy

I've read all the stuff I can about sleep stages and I still can't get my Versa to track them.  I'm going with the last resort option of factory reset tonight.  I don't think that's necessary since I just set this up 2 nights ago.  But I'll try before returning.

As for negating the floors and steps while driving. . . eh. . . I don't want a bunch of driving activities in my exercise log.  I think that's kind of dumb personally.  I wore my Versa and Alta side by side this morning and the Alta tracked significantly less steps than the Versa.  A more acceptable amount of artificial steps. The Alta doesn't do floors clearly, but it's clear that with the Versa the floors stats are going to be absolutely meaningless. I had a Charge 2 and didn't notice this many artificial floors.  It makes me wonder why a newer device has so many weird flaws that the older devices didn't have.
