Versa steps discrepancy

It seems my Versa step count is different than the Hike activity app by about 1 km. It also does not seem to take hills... as in very steep hills, like almost vertical hills into account. Or if it does, it does not indicate. Although of course there is an added benefit to walking at a fast pace through hilly and rough terrain, it does not seem to be taken into account or recorded by the app... or does it just do the algorithm via heart rate and speed and apply that to calories burned?

It's great to see you around @Captain-Canuck.

Can you please tell me how are you registering your activities? Are you using SmartTrack, selecting the activity directly from the watch or are you manually logging your exercises? I suggest taking a look at the help article How do I use exercise apps and modes on my Fitbit device?.

Hope to hear from you soon. Smiley Happy

I am using smart track. I set up my personal stats…hight/weight etc. before using it. Also, what is the difference between the built in step counter and the “walk” exercise app? Is there any added benefit? I walk my 2 dogs about 8 km every morning…which roughly translates into around 12,000 steps…according to the Versa dashboard stats.
