Versa steps inaccuracy

This is my first Fitbit and I purchased the Fitbit Versa 3 days ago.

  • The first day it automatically registered about 2800 steps before I even put it on my wrist.
  • The second day it seemed to simply add on to the previous day's steps.
  • This morning it showed 352 steps going from the bed to my desk ... and then 7 additional steps while sitting in the charger.

I've probably read every part of the online manual and from what I understand, you can't reset steps to 0. So what do I do to accurately understand exactly how many steps I do each day? I'm extremely sedentary right now so the ability to honestly view steps taken each day is my biggest importance right now.

Also in case this matters, I notice that if I go on my computer (I have poor phone service in my area so I need to depend on viewing my profile on the computer), I notice that the steps show differently and the battery life shows differently as well.

A warm welcome to the Forums @Kenomom.

Thanks for troubleshooting this by yourself. If your watch isn't resetting at midnight, I recommend restarting it and if you think that it is not being accurate at all, check how many steps you have, walk 100 steps and let me know how many it registered.

About the syncing, keep in mind that in order to see your information updated on your Dashboard, your Versa needs to be syncing constantly. For more information, check the help article How do Fitbit devices sync their data?.
