Versa stuck on installing

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Downloaded software for Versa. While it was installing, the process froze. I have done the following to remedy the situation: turned Versa on and off, erased and re-loaded fitbit software on iPhone,   Turn phone on and off. Removed versa from Bluetooth discoverable list. No longer discoverable.  Disconnected all other Bluetooth devices from Phone. Nothing works because every time I turn watch back on again it returns the frozen installing state (loading bar still on screen) Can’t get help from Fitbit. Any suggestions? Is it possible to reset the Versa to factory settings using the buttons on the sides?

So my latest Versa works fine...so far.  Did a FIIIT workout today and the watch handled it admirably. Fitbit pay works well, but so far in Canada, only the Royal Bank is on-board -- you can only store a credit card, not a debit card. The biggest pain has been replacing the watch strap, but it's a minor quibble.  Will update as necessary.

My Versa setup has been the smoothest of all the Fitbit products I've bought, but even it was not smooth and the initial update took a long time. All of my Fitibit products suffer bluetooth/wifi connectivity issues, constantly throughout the day. I can't figure out why Fitibt is so bad with their radio work (BT). Even simple syncing with my Charge HR or my fiance's Alta HR, and now my new Versa is problematic. I have spent days trying to setup Fitibt devices before. My only advice is for you to stay persistent and keep trying.

I bought the versa the first day I was able, last Monday the 16th. I have spent multiple evenings trying to get it set up with no success. I have read and done every troubleshooting thing you can think of or read about. I was going to return it today, but then I read that you can setup your Fitbit on desktop computers. I see that many people are having issues with their fitbit and their android phone, which I have (samsung galaxy s7 edge). So, instead of returning it after work today, I decided to come home and give it one more try, setting it up on my desktop mac computer. Of course, I downloaded the "fitbit connect" program and told it that I was "setting up a new fitbit," and then the versa  was listed as a product that is "mobile setup only." HA! I guess I am just not meant to own this thing. Such a bummer because I have been lusting over it for weeks and saving my money to treat myself to it just for it to not work for me. Guess I will stick my alta back on my wrist for now, sadly return my versa tomorrow, and maybe try to buy the versa again in a couple of months and hope that fitbit has worked out all of this mess. It puts a bad taste in my mouth though. 😞

keep trying to beat a dead horse ? this product is retarded.... I went through a 3 hour installation period yesterday . mid day after my workout, I go to sync today and all my stats reset / everything blank!!! im in the middle of resetting and doing this again (3 hours later)... nobody wants to be part of this frustrating product... P.O.S in my opinion and waste of time. Make a user friendly product fitbit!

What would I like to see? Wow!
Let us start with an analogy. If I buy a new automobile I expect the automobile to start.
When I select "drive" I expect to go forward, all pretty simple stuff I hope you all agree.
Now when I bought my first Versa I expected it to update and connect to my Google Pixel 2 XL. I mean why not?
So enter replacement number two. Same issues twice as frustrating. I know what do I expect for $200.00, quality silly me.
Dear Fitbit once upon a time Ford Motor company had a new top of the line automobile called the Edsel.
Versa is the new Edsel a clunker.

After trying to set my new Versa up since Tuesday and chatting with 3 help desk people from fitbit with no success, do you think I should send my Versa back and get a new one?  They say the fix they did was a 'gradual fix' so some devices will take longer than others. They can't give me a time frame, though.

I tried shutting WiFi off and just using Bluetooth and it said I couldn't set up because there was no signal.  How did you do it with just blue tooth?

I sent it back and got a full refund.
No more Edsel watches for me.

I had to use a friend's iPhone hotspot.

I had tried numerous times on Bluetooth and it kind of worked. But failed multiple times.

After 19 hours using Bluetooth my friend suggested the hotspot and it was quick from there.

It will not however respond to my androids hotspot, so... yeah there's that.

I sent mine back and got a replacement. New one works fine except it logs steps while I am driving.

Same thing here. This is my first FitBit and it's brutal. I've had it for 12 hours and I'm already returning it to Best Buy. The connectivity is some of the worse I've seen from a device. I'm looking at paying the difference and getting an Apple Watch.

I have an apple 3 watch if you want to buy it off me. I havent used it ever since I got my Ionic. IMO the apple watch sucks at fitness tracking.

Hi, can I ask if anyone has resolved the setting up issue? I have tried all the troubleshooting methods but still stuck at the setting up screen.

I was told it could not be resolved and that I needed to return it and order a new one. The new one has shipping delays and won't be here until the 4th of May.

I also have tried everything. After uninstalling and reinstalling the app I was able to get as far as the update with wi-fi screen but it will not connect with my network. I have been trying for almost a week to connect and am really frustrated! I have been excited to update to the versa and am now wanting to trow it against the wall!

Right after I posted the last comment my husband suggested trying to connect to the regular network rather than 5G. It connected! Wish me luck on the rest of the process!

Hi I have been trying to set up my Versa for 5 days, I keep getting a firmware error when it gets to 6%. I have tried all the recommended things to do with Bluetooth, WiFi etc and still nothing will help. I saw there was a message earlier in week saying there was a problem but then it said it had been sorted.

I cannot get my account to find my WiFi at all.

can anayone help?

Is there anyway to set up without WiFi? I tried to set up and I chose the option use Bluetooth but set up only goes to 6% and cancels. Message on watch indicates watch needs to be updated to newer version.

Hi, I recently acquired my first fitness watch, which has been pretty cool. I however have been unable to synch my watch with my phone using my mobile data. This has limited synchronization to only when I am around my home/ office wifi. Is there a way around this please?

Hello @NikiLetty and @GentleDele, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you both on board. Smiley Happy

@NikiLetty, please note that it's recommended to update your Fitbit Versa using WiFi as updating it through Bluetooth will result in a slow process that might get cancelled. Using WiFi will improve the speed of the update.

@GentleDele, if your watch is not syncing correctly using mobile data, I would like to suggest you to check the following:

  • Make sure the latest version of the Fitbit app is installed on your phone.
  • The software on your mobile device is up to date. To check, tap Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices around as they might interfere with the syncing process
  • Check that your Fitbit device's battery isn't critically low.

If your device still won't sync, try these steps:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Open the Fitbit app.
  4. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart your phone again.
  5. Open the Fitbit app.
  6. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart it one more time.
  7. If your Fitbit device won't sync after the restart, log in to your Fitbit account on a different phone, tablet, or computer and try to sync.
  8. If your Fitbit device still doesn’t sync, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your mobile device and try to sync.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

Hello- What if you can't get into the fitbit app? I installed the app last night from my home and it stayed on "2 of 3" for almost an hour, so I turned off my phone. This morning I tried it again from work and it stayed on "1 of 3" for 30 minutes so I uninstalled the app and re-installed it using my work wifit. Now it's saying "Fitbit is down for maintenance".

:/. Please help!
