My Daughter received a fitbit Versa for Christmas. I set up and account for myself and then proceeded to set up a child account but the only device option for the child account is the ACE. So for now her Versa is linked to my account as if she is me. This now prevents or at the very least makes it complicated for me to have my own Versa. Very frustrating and disappointing. Does anyone have any suggestions other than setting up her own adult account, she doesn't have her own email address so the account would need to be linked to one of my addresses and that is less than ideal?

Hi @ShaundraD
Each country has certain laws protecting children. In the US, the age is 13 and in some European countries, the age is 16. The Ace was created so that children could wear a Fitbit and be protected under a monitored (by a family member) account.
The Ace is also not as expensive as the other styles, so it might not be something stolen at school. I know it's hard enough to keep track of some items that leave the house for school, outside activities and find their way to the bottom of a backpack. Not all children are as responsible with gadgets as adults.
If your child is younger than those ages, they can't have their own account, but would need to be under the family account.
The problem with lying about the ages (to get an adult account) is that the Fitbit goes by the age to determine stride, heart rate and other things. It's a choice you'll have to decide if it's worth doing in.
Why not get your daughter her own email account that you control or you take the Versa and get her the Ace?

Hi, I have exactly the same issue, our 12 year old received a Versa for his birthday, we have a family account set up but it only gives an option to link to a Fitbit ace. He is currently wearing the Fitbit linked to my adult account. How did you resolve this?

Hello and welcome to the forums @TMcD1972
Sadly, there is no workaround for this, unless you make your son 13, which should work. The laws in most country protect the young ones from being online.
Let us know what you decide. We're here for you.

Hi all!
As @Odyssey13 mentioned, it's impossible to set up a child account without having either versions of the Ace. This is to comply with COPPA, and there is no work around.

The children’s setting only gives you options for the children’s fit bits not the versa. You can not set up the versa using the actual dob this is a problem! I would like my daughters info to be accurate and not lie about her dob to use her watch
