I respect Fitbit as the leader in affordable accurate fitness watches but I think they went wrong with adding some apps to the versa 2.
Having the Spotify app appear is more of a tease than a privilege. Not being able to download anything for offline storage to the watch defeats the purpose of a Spotify app since the watch is somehow constantly out of sync with my Galaxy note 9.
I understand the size of the watch and battery life probably took precedence over an independent wifi connection but still... when I am at home, my phone within a foot or two of my watch, the connection to the watch is just unreliable and shotty. This makes making changes of any sort kind of annoying. For a brand new model of an industry leader's device, I feel having direct wifi connection is a given or that not having it is a misstep or a step back since plenty of brands have this feature.
I'm curious if not being able to download songs for offline music was the decision of Fitbit or Spotify and what is the reasoning behind it? It was a very convenient feature of the watch I "upgraded" from the, Samsung gear fit pro 2 and am looking forward to the versa 2 but I feel mislead and a little bummed out. Is there something I'm missing or a possible workaround from someone with more experience?

@Jon.bloodworth Welcome to the Community. Sorry for the delayed reply.
I appreciate the time you took to share your experience with Fitbit. Your feedback and comments are appreciated, we're always striving to improve our services and watches/trackers.
On Ionic and Versa series, use the Spotify app to control the music playing on the Spotify app on your phone, computer, or other device, and to like songs and switch between playlists. I noticed there's an idea already posted about Download music on Versa/Ionic from Spotify, those ideas are reviewed by our team and the status changes based in Fitbit's plans.
I'll be around if you have any additional questions.
