Wildly inaccurate data

This morning I went for my normal walk.  Three miles in 65 minutes on a flat canal bank. Normally I burn in the 350 calorie range with this workout and have approximately 8,000 steps.  After I returned home, my Fitbit had what I can only describe as an aneurysm.  It now shows ZERO active minutes, only shows that I've gone 1.83 miles, that I have climbed 11 floors, and that I only have 4,500 steps.  What the heck!? I cannot edit the details and now it's going to screw up my weekly data. I have pretty aggressive fitness goals which include my weekly calorie burn and active minutes.  Now, for this week, my data will be completely off. I had already been having difficulty with the tracker stopping while I do interval workouts so I had to log in my beginning and end times.  What is the fix?  I don't want to get an Apple watch because I do love the amount of data I get from the Fitbit, but if it's going to require so much manual input, or tolerating "lost days" due to malfunctions, I may have no choice.  And yes, I've re-set the tracker and my phone.
