email notification keeps turning on

I have a Samsung galaxy s20 FE.. up until the most recent fitbit app update I've had no issues with my Versa 2. However now every time I disable email notifications it is automatically turning itself back on .. in spite of doing an app uninstall and reinstall,  and a soft reset of the Versa 2 itself.. how do I correct this issue, it is causing faster battery drain but I need to get my sms notifications so turning of all notifications will not fix this issue .

Fitbit are aware of this bug and are working on it. Keep an eye on the following thread where they are posting updates:
