This should absolutely be an option. AI is bad for the environment anyway, but to have soooooo many recaps and insights and analyses....it's just too much! I had 27 recaps/insights yesterday. One recap of the day's stats at the end of the day would be more than sufficient.
It's especially frustrating when these insights are frequently just plain wrong. It's like it's not even looking at my actual data. Or that it's completely misinterpreting my actual data.

@amymurray122 have you tried opening the chat at the bottom of a recap and telling it not to show you things like that anymore? I haven't done that, so I don't know if it will work, but the "Coach" does seem to be able to adapt to requests.

I have. It still keeps sending them. It's in "coach notes" several times.

@amymurray122 To turn off auto-generated recaps and other messaging from the Fitbit App go to your profile (upper right hand corner of the app), scroll down until you see Fitbit Settings, click Fitbit Settings, Look for Push Notifications (its in the section labeled App Settings), click on Push Notifications, Then scroll down until you see the section titled, "Health and Fitness" here you can turn off sleep insights, morning and evening brief, Post workout summaries, as well as plan generation.

Yes. I've gotten mixed results so far, so I'll just keep reminding it to not generate these automated recaps.

I talked to the Coach today. It said it is currently unable to alter the chats on the today tab.
I sent in a 👎 and sent in feedback
I assume it will work in the future. I asked my coach to drop the enthusiasm and take on a drill instructor persona. I was sad that didn't carry over to the today tab. I want it to yell at me for being lazy, not say "great job recognizing the need for recovery"
Hopefully it will be in next update, although i would rather nutrition get added first

"I asked my coach to drop the enthusiasm and take on a drill instructor persona. I was sad that didn't carry over to the today tab. I want it to yell at me for being lazy, not say "great job recognizing the need for recovery" "
OMG YES!!!! I tried doing this too, because honestly, I don't respond well to kindness, I respond better to criticism (a leftover trait from childhood, I guess), and it told me that the way it was programmed, it had to use kindness and encouragement. Maybe another potential update? Sure, start with the kindness and encouragement, but if someone responds better to another kind of support, then let them be able to ask for that.
EDIT: I found out how to make it work!
I initially asked for a slightly meaner tone, and I got this response (cut down because it's looooooong...still working on "short and concise"):
"I understand your request for a "meaner" tone. However, as a health and wellness advisor, my programming is centered on providing support, guidance, and information in a way that is always safe, constructive, and emphathetic. Being mean goes against that core principal."
So I explained WHY having a meaner tone is more effective for me...basically, I'm a defiant little **** who doesn't do something if you tell me to do it. BUT if you tell me I can't, you can bet your backside I'm not only going to do it, but I'm going to excel at it, just to prove you wrong.
Suddenly, the response shifted. It recapped what I said, and then said "When providing feedback or making recommendations, I will adjust my tone to incorporate a more direct, challenging, and even provocative style, framing things in a way that aims to trigger that intrinsic drive you have to prove something can be done."
Is it perfect? No. But it's better than the sicky-sweet constant encouragement and praise.
