Public preview barcode scanner

I've opted in to the new public preview and was disappointed to see that the barcode scanner was no longer available when trying to log food. Is this how it's going to continue to be or am I missing something

@WifeOnAMission the Public Preview is a work in progress and does not have all the features of the standard app. We have the option to switch back to the standard app to use features that are not yet in the Public Preview. 

You can learn more about the current status of the Public Preview here. That thread is updated regularly as more features are added. Google doesn't announce when new features are scheduled to be released, so it isn't known when barcodes will be added to the Public Preview.

I understand it's a public preview, let's make sure it doesn't make it out of previous without the barcode scanner please.

The link has no mention of the barcode scanner being worked on. I hope this is added back in or the app would be pretty useless to me.

Would be great if someone could confirm.

I completely agree the public previews really been difficult to use I mean I know it's new but I have to continually go back to the old version to use the barcode scanner and get a good snapshot of my daily calorie intake and nutrients. The public preview has some visually appealing parts but I just don't know how effective it's going to be for me and my weight loss journey

Hopefully it will be added in at a later date before the full release as this is just a beta but it definitely needs to be put back in. 

The update should be adding features and making it more useful not taking away. Especially key features such as the barcode scanner.

Yes there's quite a lot of work they need to do to get it up to standard. 

Also the log and add another button it's missing which was also useful and saved having to go back in to add food again every time
