Ability to delete old data on Fitbit

I would love to be able to delete old data on my account, from a period of time that I was without a Fitbit. I have at least 6 months of time with 0 steps/sleep because I didn't have a functioning Fitbit. It would be nice to be able to reset that without losing my account -- since I didn't think about this until 6 months after getting my new Fitbit. I don't want to lose the current data, but this long stretch with 0 steps is screwing up averages I feel.

Looking through other posts, it seems I'm not the only one that wants to be able to delete data without resetting/starting over with a new account.

Clicking food icon on app displays a lengthy weekly history of items one logs, for their daily intake. Requesting a possibility to delete/remove the older weeks.

Hi @mm_11, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to see delete old data on the Fitbit app. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

Thanks Yojana,

One is able to delete data listed in the "Sleep" section on the app, just by pressing down on a date and tap on delete.  Should be able to do the same with daily listings in the "Food" section and "Today" area, when you click on the left arrow beside "Today", which brings up a lengthy trail of prior days/weeks listings.  And again,  I'm not sure of all the data being saved is using up storage space, on the cell phone

I have months of daily sleep entries. To delete old entries I have to delete one at a time. It takes 3 clicks to delete one entry. I need a way to select and delete multiples, just as I would do with email or text messages.

We should have ABSOLUTE control of our personal data that is being stored.

@akwildheart you have the ability to delete your fitbit account, or download a copy of all the data fitbit has stored on your activity.

The link to the Privacy Policy is at the bottom of every page.

Fitbit does not give the user the option to log out of fitbit sharing of any data, because fitbit does not share any user data with anyone. Even its parent company Google does not have access to the us

I’m not interested in downloading my data. I am also not concerned about Fitbit sharing my data. I just want to be able to clear out all the data that is already being stored and start with a clean slate. I shouldn’t have to completely delete my account to be able to do that but even if I did, which I considered, I’d lose my Fitbit Premium membership which I have already paid for in advance for an entire year. I spoke with FB Support and they recommended for me not to delete my account but to post here. My previous comment was probably a bit abrupt and not helpful but the fact that I can’t quickly clear out past data seems bizarre and very frustrating. Even Amazon’s fitness band allowed me to do this and that product hasn’t been around that long (and I don’t recommend it.) I’ve ended up deleting everything I could one entry at a time but it too 2 days for me to do this.
