Able to create a custom meal and indicate number of servings

I would really like to be able to build a recipie and then indicate how many servings it makes and how much I ate and see nutritional break down by servings too.  I think it would way easier than trying to enter all ingredients then when its time to eat the leftovers I can just add the recipie serving.

Please advise if there is an option to do the following:

           1.  Create a Smoothie Recipe.

           2.  List the ingredients:  oatmeal, almond milk, cinnamon, banana,  apple, blueberries, etc

           3.  Can I create a name for smoothie:  Oatmeal Smoothie

           4.  Save name and ingredients.

           5.  During the week, when I have for breakfast can I just click on oatmeal smoothie, instead of typing in each ingredients.

           6.  Also, can I add the amount of each ingredient to obtain calories?

Thanks in advance for assistance!

Hi a I would love a feature where you can add an entire recipe and break it down by serving once you are logging the food.

It would truly make the Fitbit dashboard a one stop shop. Especially since a lot of the food you look up is pre packaged or prepared foods. A lot of people like to make their own food too. Thanks!

I used to use the mynetdiary app to log food until got a fit bit, then started using the Fitbit app. The only down side is I can no longer create recipes to easily put in that I use often - for example I have the same breakfast during the week which has 6 ingredients - would be great to not have to add them all everyday and just add from a saved recipe. Also there isn’t as many items that are barcode scanable. And can’t add to them or report back if a scan is incorrect.

Now that I'm trying harder to lose weight and using less prepackaged and restaurant food, logging food on the Fitbit app has become a time consuming chore. Creating food is available but being able to do so by adding all ingredients into one user-named item (recipe) would save so much time and trouble. As is, when I cook or eat at restaurants not already in the app, I just don't log anything which really defeats the purpose.

I was using other apps to create a recipe and logging it was part of my food log which was so easy to use and very useful.  Since I switched over to fitbit so that I don't have to log in 2 different apps, because it does not have the feature to create my own recipe, I had to switch back to the other app.  Very frustrating as I switched back to the other app only because fitbit does not have the recipe creating feature.  I'm really hoping that Fitbit' has plans to implement this feature in the near feature!

I would like to build a dish with certain ingredients and save it to be logged later.

I eat many salads with many different ingredients; I'd like to be able to log "my beet salad" instead of having to log each ingredient, individually.

Hey guys,

I love the app, and I'm even a bit addicted to tracking my calorie intake by logging what food I've eaten.

It's particularly handy when the food is straightforward.

However, I cook a lot at home, which involves logging individual ingredients (Olive oil, Coconut milk, Chillies, Soy Sauce, 250g of chicken), which obviously takes a little longer. Rather than having to select individual ingredients each time I cook the same meal at home, why not allow users to group the meal together? For instance, when logging food, it would be great if I could select a checkbox titled "Do you want to group these ingredients?" After grouping the ingredients, I would be able to give it a name just like you can when adding a custom food.

I think this would save so much time for a lot of users, as it's quite repetitive selecting the same ingredients over and over again, as opposed to just selecting "Coconut chilli chicken".

Thanks,

Chris.

Please add the capability to save a recipe in Fitbit app so that I can just add a serving to my day without having to store it elsewhere.

Id also like to be able to post a link and import a recipe like Myfitness pal and Carbmanager let you do.

Im really tired of having to use separate apps for food and fitness.

This would be amazing. There are so many times when I have to add all the ingredients individually. It would make it so much easier if I could save the ingredients I add as a "PB&J" or whatever I am eating that day.

A way to save a meal or recipe so that individual ingredients don't have to be added every time. I meal plan and eat the same thing for lunch all week as well as a green smoothie every day. Right now food logging is awful

This is very similar to the Recipe Converter suggestion from several years ago. In general I think it's very annoying to create a homemade meal on Fitbit, either with raw or packaged components. I'm interested in knowing the nutrition facts of the foods I eat, and right now in order to do that I either have to create a custom food and do math to add all the nutrition info or scan/search for each component individually and hope that the Fitbit food database has what I am looking for.

Consider a sandwich for lunch. If I want to create a custom food, I have to add all of the nutrition information from the bread, mayo, mustard, turkey, ham, cheese, tomato, and lettuce and save it off. OR I have to scan each barcode and input the correct serving size, search for lettuce and tomato, and now my food log for the day is totally bloated with all these ingredients. It would make more sense to create a custom food item, but allow the user to "add component" to the item via the barcode scanner or select an existing item from the Fitbit database.

You are spot on.

Hi,

I like the fact that when you track your food you see the "recently eaten with" option however it would be great if you could save this as a meal instead, especially if this is a regular meal. The option of adjusting the serving size of the newly created meal would be great as well. If any major tweaks in the meal prep occur then you can just go back and add the individual ingredients anyway as per the norm.

The food database has multiple entries of the same food, but is RIDICULOUSLY difficult to find the food I want. As an example, I used the "add food" option, after which I could not retrieve the food I HAD JUST ADDED! In addition, once I've logged a food and it goes to the "most logged" or "recent" it slips off after 20 other foods come in and I have to search for it again. Any chance of keeping ALL the foods I've logged so I can go back to them without searching the wretched database again? And any chance of having the capability of entering recipes (since we're trying to be healthy) that we'll actually be able to find? I used myfitnesspal to create a recipe which was then lost in your database, so FYI that doesn't work.

I like this idea too -- the nutrition / food logging section of the app leaves a lot to be desired. Remembering all foods you've eaten (or at least more than 20), recipe builder like MFP, reporting incorrect database entries, etc.

Regarding food database, it would be great to be able to have all countrie’ food databases available at once as I eat a lot of Asian foods and / or international.

Hello @UnsatisfiedUser.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the matter.

The situation you mentioned where manually logged food is not showing up is something our team is aware of it is being looked into. As soon as there are any updates we'll be sharing them with everyone.

As for the recent food list, please post a new suggestion about it talking  specifically about it with more details so that users can support the idea.

Finally, we have a suggestion to add recipes. Please be sure to visit it and vote for it to show your support.

Again, thanks for your participation and feedback.

I think it’s wonderful this is a feature with fitbit even though it is a really simple watered down version of myfitness pal.

Right now it’s really lacking as it doesn’t hold half of the food that I eat. I’ve had to manually enter all my Starbucks drinks, Lunches I might (I work in the city centre and I’m a tad lazy with preparing lunches)info into it.

Plus there isn’t an option to enter a recipe and add ingredients for your home cooked meals.  Sure you can create a meal, but it’s hard to ascertain weights and specific calorie info on them, so you can get an accurate view of the calories, sugars, fat protein etc.

It would be much better if they took a wee leaf out of MyFitnessPal and

A) Increased their food library to include Starbucks, Gousto etc

B) Allowed a create a recipe where you can add individual ingredients which already have all the fat, protein sugars etc attached to it and these individual ingredients then make the whole recipe info

I’m really sad I’m having to give up on this and go back to using my fitness pal. I spent 40 minutes manually adding all my breakfast, snacks and lunch, but when I got to my dinner because it’s all cooked from scratch I had no way to know the nutritional value of the whole meal and that’s the main reason I have to use another app 😢

I really hope it’s something they look into as I love fitbit.

Hi,

I am very much missing an option where I could add all ingredients to a custom meal and afterwords split it to portions (grams perhaps) to count how much I am about to consume. It would help me fully track my meals as I only ever cook, I do not use ready meals so it is very difficult for me

Shellula

Yes, I agree.  The food tracking is good but could do with some improvement.

I'd like to add...!

- The ability to log a complete recipe, similar to how you can log a meal but add a feature where you can state the number of servings in the recipe and calculate calories/macros in one serving.

- Being able to edit items in a meal without having to delete them completely and re-enter them.

- Ability to simply type in number of grams or servings when you use the app on your computer.  Having to scroll is frustrating, especially if you go too far and it goes back to one and you have to start from the beginning.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO THIS!!! I really dont like having to reenter the same meal over and over and over and over everyday

It would be very helpful in tracking homemade food, if there was a feature in 'custom food' where you could create a new food that is a combination of all your ingredients. You scan each ingredient + the amount you're putting in the recipe, then the custom food is created as a sum of all the individual nutrition facts and calories. When tracking, you just need to pull up the custom food and record the appropriate serving size.

Why this is helpful:

-much easier than guessing calories and nutrition when cooking yourself

-don't have to enter all the ingredients in tracking every time you make the meal

-builds upon existing 'custom food' feature

This would get me tracking my food again. I often meal prep for the whole week, making meals with many different ingredients, and I hate having to input the same ingredients every day.
