Able to return to previous Fitbit app version

Woke up this morning to your new app. To say the least I am not impressed. It lacks color and is boring and adds nothing new to what was there before. I absolutely hate it. I am a longtime Fitbit user but this might actually change that on next purchase.

The new application interface is terrible. There's way too much negative space, lacks the color that was visually appealing with the old app, is less functional because less information is on the screen at a given time. Please bring back the old app. The new one is so terrible.

Provide an option to return to the old app!

this is unacceptable.

I have canceled Premium as a result.

the new design not only looks atrocious (rounded edges and pastels? im not a child hunting for unicorns and yes , agree that it also depressing) but it takes away functionality. I can no longer easily compare past days since data is presented week by week. it is absolutely infuriating that it forces you to select a goal or focus area to even gain access to the data. it's MY business if I want to have a goal area and I do NOT care to share that with anyone or the app and I don't have a goal area anyhow!!! And you can't (not so subtly) force me to have one by presenting that idea and screen. what sort of passive aggressive health coaching is that? such bs. the whole thing is sickening and not user friendly at all

This is appalling! I hope this action of Fitbit/google hits main stream media. Degrading their Fitbit app one week before introducing the new google device is horrible corporate greed!
I hope this comes back to bite them. I will also be moving to a non google device

TOTALLY agree. They have WRECKED the usability of the app.

Not only is the new version busy busy busy (see below for more details) but also they have changed  the headline tiles on the app to secondary things like Stress Management the default headline tiles instead of the sensible things they previously had … like …. STEP COUNT and other ACTIVITY related info!!! And apparently YOU CANNOT CHANGE THIS TILE ORDER!!!  Stupid regressive changes and incredibly unused friendly. What idiot developer thinks that users want to see Stress Mgt and Sleep at a glance rather than Activity things  ??! And stops them changing it. I have tried seeing if can affect things via the website dashboard but no luck.

I'm not a big fan of it either.  I really miss the battery level indicator, that's how I know how fast it's charging and when it's done.  Google is messing up another good thing.  They very persistent to destroy all that is good.

Other major irritating details:

- bigger font but less detail without burying down.
- very irritating moving counter instead of simply displaying the Step number when we swipe to a different day.
- instead of showing Step count as a  simple list you can scroll down through, we have to pick a partic week or month ( and even within that we then have to select a particular week.
- I could go on !!!

This app is now time consuming to use and very very annoying and user-unfriendly.

I know curiosity killed the cat, still, I am curious. How is it corporate greed?

Google is purposely tanking Fitbit to push customers to the new Google Pixel Watch which goes on the market today for $350 and up.

@LokeAa That's a reasonable question. I assume folks mean it in the sense of Google essentially saying, "We want to optimize our end [what we have to support] at the expense of our users' satisfaction". That's really just a business decision, and business decisions are more or less by definition "corporate greed". That is, companies are supposed to make money, so when they do things in furtherance of that goal, we can call it "corporate greed" but we can also just call it "good business choices".

The operative question is whether that "good business choice" is more damaging or advantageous to them in the long run. Obviously if it's more damaging, it wasn't a *GOOD* business choice.

Companies don't owe us anything; we'd like to think they do, that they're interested in making us happy, but that really isn't their goal--it's to make money. Some companies make customer satisfaction a goal in furtherance of their business--think Amazon in the early days, Zappos (pre-Amazon, though I have no experience with them lately), Chewy still. But that's also a business choice: "We think we will make more money by going above and beyond in customer service than not".

Unfortunately, we the consumer have proven to most businesses' satisfaction that customer service is mostly NOT a winner. Whether that's the case here remains to be seen. Yes, there are hundreds of complaints in these threads; those represent a tiny fraction of the Fitbit user community. Whether that's the tip of the iceberg or the noisy few is something none of us have a good way to judge. And I doubt Google does, either--it's all a gamble on their part. Time will tell!

according to the tech specs the google watch is not as waterproof as the charge 5, so no good for scuba, It says 5 ATM but degrading over time

I've used the the Charge 5 for diving as it fits nicely inside my drysuit

I Hate to say it, but the apple watch ultra is suitable for diving to 40M, so I may go for a used one of those instead of the next best, a Chinese smart watch

I hate the look of the new app! The drawing is ugly and for some reason takes up more space, so that you have to scroll down to see the information you want! I cannot get the information I want in the order that I prefer. It is very unfriendly to use! Please go back to original!

I hate the look of this new app!  In addition,  you can no longer edit the activity type when autodetect detects the activity wrong!

This new interface is very displeasing,  to put it mildly.

The screen is a mess! I hate that the Focus cannot be changed.  I prefer that my step count is prominent, but sadly the look cannot be changed. Please go back to the old app!

That doesn't explain why Google isn't posting our negative reviews on the Play Store and why they are deleting posts here. That is something different entirely. Bud Light and other companies took their licks when they made decisions that upset their customer base...they didn't try to cover it up.

How do I go back to the previous version? This one is not user-friendly.

It is offensive. Why would you want to imply that we are no longer able to process the same amount of data as before. The wasted space in this downgrade makes this app change look like it was made for toddlers.

  • Only 3 small circles?.
  • Where are the steps at a glance?
  • Is scrolling now an activity?

Please bring back the adult version.

Not sure who designed this new look, but it really has no "look" at all.  Must have been an executive's out of work relative who needed a gig.  This is unacceptable.  Totally bland, sterile, uninspiring. It doesn't even show the battery level; you have to connect to the charger just to see how low the battery is. Please either go back to the old look or give us an option on how we want the metrics displayed. If we can choose a watch face, we should be able to choose the look of the display. This is pathetic.

I think the assumption with that statement was to get people to buy the new Google watches, but the problem with that is that they both now use the same app, is my understanding. As a retired major corporate financial manager (GE, IBM, JPMorgan Chase), appears to be a poor cost cutting attempt to only have to maintain 1 app, and choose the one already integrated in the corporation with Google watches, disregarding the Fitbit app appears to be superior!Sent from my Galaxy

I really dislike the Luxe app upgrade. I don’t like the large font on the Home Screen. It’s very hard to read everything at a glance. I also don’t like the ticker generating your steps. I like the old screen. It’s much easier to read. Please change it back!

This was a business decision to purchase a base and bring/force the base into the Google ecosystem.  That's their right and I doubt Google will be changing that decision anytime soon, if at all.  I've downloaded the older version to use in the short term until I decide on a new fitness tracker.  When companies move to a new platform, they will no longer serve the older one.  For those of you who did this, google will most likely end the data stream for the older version shortly and there is a security risk associated with using the older version.  I can't see Google reversing course and using the Fitbit app in lieu of their platform.

This one won't stay up long but .... I just emailed the NYT Wirecutter feature to ask them to review the new software update.  Looking forward to their take!

Somehow, the update has managed to change an "exercise tracker" into an app that swallows all the data its users want to see.  Hides it.  Seems like we should be able to expect an "exercise tracker" to show exercise data, doesn't it?

I really dislike the new update. It's much harder to read. I want the battery usage display back!
