Able to return to previous Fitbit app version

Woke up this morning to your new app. To say the least I am not impressed. It lacks color and is boring and adds nothing new to what was there before. I absolutely hate it. I am a longtime Fitbit user but this might actually change that on next purchase.

The new app is terrible. I would like to go back to the old app. Change is only good if it is an improvement and this is not. I do not even want to use it but riight now until I change to a different brand I am stuck. I would hate to leave Fitbit because of this but I may have to.

The new app is terrible . The look of it is bland and frustrating. The old app you were able to customize what order you wanted each stat to be in and that’s no longer an option. You can no longer see how much battery life there is . It’s not user friendly at all .
I’ve been with Fitbit since 2015 and never had an issue with the old version of the app . Why change a good thing ?

I absolutely agree with all who have said that the new app is terrible in design and throws us off course. I find it unbelievable that design teams would have actually done such a bad job. We don't have to go back tot the old app but something that is user friendly,  visually pleasing and functional for the purpose  would do very well. I hope views of users are taken into consideration immediately.

I know it is a business right to 'attempt' to force people into their product (ie monopolize). I'm more an Apple person and I'm sure they have their sins, but I've never been unhappy with a product or update (yet). Will research Garmin and Apple for the holidays and just look at my Fitbit watch for steps in the meantime. So sad-I really did like the small profile of a fitbit and ease in use. I'd never buy a Google Pixel after the way they just dumped on its customers.

New app is crap!

As to why Google went with their own app over Fitbit, product development and hubris.  Google has no doubt invested millions in the development of their product...hard to believe the way it turned out.  As to the other reason, they're the 800lb gorilla.  They just "purchased" a much smaller company.  What would it look like if they incorporated a lesser than companies product in lieu of their own?  I really don't think Google ever considered seriously using the Fitbit app.  I think this was just a way to expand the customer base.

I agree...go back to the old App. This looks more like a prototype from an entry level designer than an actual polished finished app. Why would you ever replace a professional looking app with great functionality with this? It is so apparent the new designers had no clue as to what functionality existed in the old app.

There are so many features missing. To name a few:

It is not updating when the screen is refreshed -- I walk every day and I know my step count in terms of time walked. I don't believe they are now being recorded properly. -- Battery remaining isn't displayed -- Emails aren't being sent alerting when battery is low -- The print is WAY too large -- In the food section, line items appear twice at times and even when deleted, I've had an extra line item return. -- The target data isn't correct. I can add water and a half of cup of dry cereal and this section shows that I'm "over target" for the day. -- Also in the food section, on the main screen, there was a number that let you know how many calories were remaining on any given day; this is missing

What a mess you've made of a successful app. I have used fitbits for years and in the past couple of days I'm already considering other products. Maybe you should adhere to the old adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"!!!!!

I do not have the ability to view the exact percentage of battery life on my Fit Bit device. Why?

Completely agree.

I do not have the ability to view the exact percentage of battery life on my Fit Bit device. Why?

The Steps screen history is not user friendly. In the previous version my entire step history was readily available. I have a number of health challenges and the Step screen on the old version made it easy to monitor my health trends.

The large cartoonish fonts on the home screen, means there is less viewable info; so, you must continue to scroll for every piece of data.

Bugs in new app.

1. Sleep time ends if you get up at night to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. For instance, if you go to sleep at 11:30pm, get up at 4am to go to bathroom then go back to sleep until 7, it only logs 4.5 hours sleep. I have had my watch set to normal sensitivity for as long as I can remember and never had this problem.

2. When manually logging exercise, calories shown on app differ from calories shown on watch. Syncing does not help.

I'm not crazy in love with the new app. Room is wasted on the headers for Sleep, Activity, Stress & Mindfulness, etc.. You already have sleep duration, readiness score, body response, etc.. It's redundant.

For those of you watching this forum closely. Take a look at the Pixel watch being sold on Amazon. It's about $370. And there is a video that shows it being unpacked. In this video the watch is being connected using the Fitbit app. The new Fitbit app. And it shows that app in dark mode. I don't know when this video was made, but you can look and see it for yourselves.

The gentleman who is making the video is using the Fitbit app to connect to the new device - the a Pixel watch.

I personally don't want a Pixel watch or any other watch because the watches, Apple, included have so much more stuff that I don't want. And a very hefty price tag. So I'd be looking for a fitness tracker which has what I need without all the extras and without the hefty price tag.

But, I thought those of you who were interested in a watch, either an Apple watch or a Pixel watch would be interested in the video associated with the sale of the Pixel watch on Amazon. And, note that it shows the new Fitbit app in dark mode.

Couldn't agree with Nymdok more.  One would like to think that FitBit had a huge UI Team working on these sorts of changes/updates and then vetted it appropriately through beta users, etc.  Enhanced it based on feedback, issues....you know how normal software development happens.

This app update is awful.  I have been a huge fan of FitBit for years.  The old version was exactly what users wanted.  I can't see the battery status anymore (as has been mentioned numerous times), I lost my daily "good job for making your step goal for "n" number of days in a row alerting.  I was up to 665ish days and that alert was so helpful to keep me going.  Just gone.  Users rely on these little things to maintain goals, set new goals, etc.  I SOOOO wish I could revert back to the prior version.

I've been toying with the idea of moving to an Apple Watch but I loved loved my FitBit and its app until now.  Nice job Fitbit - you made my decision easier to make.

Im sure Fitbit will see sense and either go back to the old app or design
one better.
My own suggestion is that they focus on the product - hardware and
software. I am 65 years old and get a heart rate of 190 on my Versa 2 when
I do a gentle jog.
All other metrics rest on BPM so it out everything in doubt.

At this point it seems clear that no one at FitBit is reading these comments.  In the beginning at least they responded - even if their answers didn't address the correct problem.  I've never seen this kind of backlash over a poor app design. Their best option is to quickly ditch this app redesign and go back to the old design. I'm on my second FitBit and I loved it until this point. Now I'm looking to trash it and find a better company. They sold us a great product but then took away all its best features and made it difficult to use.  This is a classic Bait and Switch

Yep @Loucamp, just turned Fitbit into trash for their new product.

They’re giving the watch away for free with the purchase of the new Pixel 8

Pixel is a Google product - I doubt anyone in this forum would buy it after the way Google has treated their Fitbit customers.

Agree agree agree! I hate the new format. You can't pick what to see or the order. I had to turn everything off and slowly add what I wanted to see. And it's been wrong with the exercise days. I actually started looking at Apple watches.

I concur absolutely regarding the disappointing changes in the latest "upgrade". The new mobile screen format is terrible!! Juvenile in design, far less useful and much fewer options to customize than the old screen design. Fitbit completely missed on this one 😖

Dear Sadly83:

Google will not revert back to the old version. What you are contemplating
by unsubscribing is the only response that the FitBit Community will have.
Personally, I do not have a Premium subscription.

Yes, I am upset that “Step Streak” notifications are no longer available. I
am sure it is in Googles master plan to have users purchase their new
product.

I am glad that I can review my history and I am estimating that I will have
enough miles to go around the Earth by sometime in November 2024!

Finally, I can continue tracking my cardio fitness for a man my age 60+.

Well, I've decided to switch to Garmin. It's on order.

For some reason, what angers me the most is the fact that Google is
deleting the reviews in the Play store, so prospective customers will be
unaware of the complaints of the new update. It's so deceitful and
unethical. The silence on their part isn't helping, either.

For those who access Fitbit Premium through a United Healthcare Advantage
plan, I've just talked with customer service. They tell me there is no
cancelling it. It's prepaid through the end of the year. I've been told
that it will need to be renewed on our part in January - it's not
automatic. It was very frustrating getting to this answer. 🙂

This Google debacle is a bit reminiscent of Coca-Cola and “New Coke”.

For those of you youngsters out there, some genius at Coca-Cola in the 1980’s had the brilliant idea to change the formula of their flagship drink after a century of stellar global success. The backlash was so overwhelming, Coca-Cola reverse that decision immediately

Let’s hope the outcome here is the same.

I agree. Deleting the reviews in the Play Store is the worst part. If you're going to do something...at least stand by your decision and face the backlash. Hiding the negative reviews and just ignoring loyal Fitbit customers is truly repulsive. I will never buy a Google product.

Fitbits loss is no doubt Garmins game … that’s where I’m going.
