Able to return to previous Fitbit app version

Woke up this morning to your new app. To say the least I am not impressed. It lacks color and is boring and adds nothing new to what was there before. I absolutely hate it. I am a longtime Fitbit user but this might actually change that on next purchase.

The new phone app now appears to be losing the authorized device list and therefore cannot communicate with any of my devices. This seems like a major software error. Is anything being done to correct this flaw?

Looks like the parent (Google) took the child (Fitbit) out back to finish the job. The app degrade wasn’t enough, but now it’s not even working. RIP Fitbit app…you’ll be missed.

Agreed. Sleep numbers not there for this week, not reading resting heart
rate correctly- higher then it has been since December 2022, daily steps
not loading...... What a mess! Never have had issues with the app prior
to this. Will consider other options if this becomes the norm!!!!

I shouldn't go to a community forum after purchasing a Sense 2 to find out the device has a faulty update and now a sub-par recently updated app and unfortunately nothing can be done about it. We as consumers should be able to buy a product as intended & not get nothing but problems afterwards.

I agree with everyone's comments. I have been using Fitbit for years and have really loved it. I now do not like how it looks on the iPhone ( likely as Google is completing with Apple). I am extremely frustrated with the changes. My Fitbit is not working now and I can't get help at the moment

It looks like they are aware that there's an issue. The app refuses to sync with my tracker, doesn't recognize that it even exists. I was losing my mind thinking it was me. Guess there's nothing else to do but wait for these knuckleheads to fix it. Maybe they can bring back the previous app while they're at it???

So my Fitbit1 - yes Fitbit 1 - I have been nursing it along - would not sync with the app.  Went through all the usual, and finally tried to delete and reload the app.  Like everyone else, I am totally disgusted at the hideous new design.  AND STILL NO sync.  Its been a great many years with Fitbit, but so long.  Now the quest to find some sort of clip on as I prefer a proper watch (Omega not Apple) and won't wear 2.  Any suggestions?

The Fitbit app has had several updates made to it since Google took over from Fitbit. Based on a response to another user, it sounds like you are implying you don’t have the original source code to roll back this disaster of an upgrade. Surely this can not be the case?

if it really is, and given you have defined a new app from scratch, you should be able to recreate the original interface design and at least re-skin the new app to appear like the old one.

adding the extra stat circle on the main page would be a good start.

in my humble opinion, you should have tried to maintain the original design with your own code base, only rolling out an update when you had done so.

Yeah mine not syncing too since their last “update”. It’s been a nice 981 days Fitbit, but I’m done. Going for a vivosmart 5 instead.

The new app lost connection to my FitBit and I was unable to get it restored. I've had it two years and never had any issue until this app downloaded. My last sync was at 4:00 PM, and I discovered the problem at 6:00 PM. The app was telling me the device was not connected. Other indications pointed to user authentication issues at the server end. I came back later and everything seems to be working.

@1GinnyME1  YIKES! When it came time for me to have to upgrade my phone because my old one wasn't compatible with whatever VOLte is (Some Voice blah blah blah) I thought I should treat myself and that is when I went on a journey to THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE! lol j/k but I did go on a journey if only at my computer and the stores. I started comparing devices and I would even look at some reviews (Usually a few of the first ones and a few of the newest ones just to see what changes have been made.) Eventually my search lead me to Versa 3. First time I had a smart watch let alone one that could use gps. Sure there are some ups and downs but hey when you do that much looking then of course I am happy with it. (Not happy with how the app looks right now tbh.) Any ways, I hope it gets fixed for you.

I just wanted to pile on here -- The new app is awful.  Total fail!  At first I was hopeful that I just needed to get used to it, but it's just awful and my opinion is not changing at all.  I used to enjoy checking my stats and now it just makes me sad...the UX could not be worse.  Please, please, please find a way to change back and do not change the rest of the tracking screens.  I'm tempted to try a different company/product, but I don't want to walk away from over a years worth of data...but I will, if this situation goes unchanged.

My sleep was broken into two sessions last night, even though I went right back to sleep when I got up to use the restroom. Usually Fitbit is more accurate than our Sleep Number bed but apparently no more. Also, my heart rate has been higher than usual as well. I'm using a Versa 2.

This 4.0 update is a terrible app interface. Bland, no color, hard to find data. Terrible, please roll back. Seriously going to shop for different brand. Google is obviously flawed for releasing this app.

That’s a great idea from a user standpoint.  They probably would have had to delay this “upgrade” if they took all of our comments into consideration before they did it.  This is more difficult to use and is missing features I used every day.

I have been a Fitbit owner since 2015 - bought 4 or 5, lve lost count TBH & lve loved the products & the community! I had no intention of joining in on the public part of Fitbit, l just wanted to keep track of my steps as l recovered from back surgery... But that began to change as l met people on The Injuriy Group, then Vegetarian, then started to join challenges & then made the weekly challenges. Ive made lifelong friends & even met some of these friends!! We've been there for each other thru thick & thin & now suddenly Google steps in & completely destroys all these communities & ways to communicate - not only with each other, but to help all the new people out there who need help! There was sooooo much info on Fitbit that people could have looked up, but now it's just gone. They can't just reach out & say something like Hey, lm having surgery on my ankle fusion & having it turned into an ankle replacement - has anyone else been thru this?! Nope. Google killed that. Do they care? Nope. But aside from that, today l checked in & hmmm, lm faced with nothing. Ive got a completely blank screen on my Fitbit page on my phone! My Fitbit is working on my wrist. I can go to notifications, but the new ones aren't there, even tho they say they are... SMH! It's been bad enough, but seriously Google... WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!! WHY can't you just leave well enough alone?!! WHAT is YOUR goal?! Cuz you are sucking at whatever it is!! PLEEEEEASE fix this & please just think about what you have destroyed. What we shared before you stepped in was something so special. It has actually saved lives!! Possibly reconsider what you are doing. Just a comment from someone with a conscience.

Mine wasn't working earlier and it finally came back. It's getting harder
and harder to stay with fitbit. I have been looking at other watches. I'm
ready to pull the plug. Great job Google on messing up.

I am disappointed in google/fitbit, as  soon as google took over they started changing everything. WHY!! it was working great. If you had to update for security reasons, I understand, but just to change things to change things, (probably by people who do not use the app like a lot of us do) is dumb!

According to DigitalTrends, by 2025 Google will require anyone with a Fitbit account to move it over to a Google one. Seems to me they've already begun killing Fitbit.......needless to say, I won't be buying a Google watch.

I will echo what others said about the overhaul of Fitbit product/site by Google. Since they took over, I got more  problems with versa 2. It got to the point that after I was forced to sync my FB account with Google, my watch got a huge red "X" on the face, and any attempt to fix it, ended in a dead watch. Fast-forward to the upgraded Sense 2. It worked well for two months, until they changed the graphic design. It is not user friendly, not-intuitive, and it took me hours to search for things I was typically relying on. Still cannot find info about the battery charge! Now, today I could not sync my watch with my phone app (android) around 2 pm (PST). I followed all the steps I found on the forums, including uninstalling the app to no avail. Ha...my huge mistake was to listen to these "solutions" because, I cannot log into the newly reinstalled app on my phone. Yes, I have to use Google account. While they have fixed my/our ability to login to our dashboard on the website, I cannot open the app and login. I cannot sync my phone with my watch, which in this whole messy process is 17 minutes behind the real time. Any attempt at the newly reinstalled FB app at the point of login gets the error message. This watch and its app are irritants, the bane of my existence. 😠

Does anyone like this “update”?
