Able to return to previous Fitbit app version

Woke up this morning to your new app. To say the least I am not impressed. It lacks color and is boring and adds nothing new to what was there before. I absolutely hate it. I am a longtime Fitbit user but this might actually change that on next purchase.

Terrible design, less information at a glance, hard to find what we look for, tasteless colorless makes it even harder to identify what we're looking at.

Never had as many issue with sync than since I installed this update.

Please roll back your change and review your copy

The new app is not user friendly at all, and is very frustrating to use. Too much white space, the icons are too big. Not only are the visuals disappointing, but the usability and navigation are unacceptable for a product like a Fitbit tracker. I want a quick view of my daily stats, without having to scroll so much. Did your team conduct use research or usability testing before designing and releasing it?
I am seriously considering switching companies once my current tracker nears its end of life. I am sad, because I really liked Fitbit and its products, have been using it since 2015, and have had multiple trackers and the aria. But unless an option to revert to the previous interface is provided, this updated app usability fiasco will drive me to move to another manufacturer. Sorry Fitbit…a loyal customer who is very, very disappointed.

I'm not holding my breath on any of this. I'm going to AT&T and purchasing a smartwatch and since I have a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, it will be connected right to it with no issues. I already contacted Samsung & told them all the issues I'm having with Fitbit & they said they are having a lot of customers reaching out to them to find out their options as far as which ones to purchase.

I'm so disappointed in Fitbit. I've been with Fitbit since March 2014 when it was Fitbit not Google.

There are THOUSANDS of unhappy customers on the Community Forum & even more HUNDRENDS OF THOUSANDS who haven't responded on the Community Forum but displayed their disappointment by leaving a 1-star review.

Fitbit doesn't seem not to care, which is not how a company should be run.

Take care,

Why did the title of this post change? We want the old app back. This update is difficult to use, clumsy to navigate and the info is hidden away or not there. I didn’t even realise how much I used the battery percentage on the homepage previously until you took it away. PLEASE give us functionality back.

I am disappointed by the new app UI.

I am a longtime loyal Fitbit customer.

Here are my 2 cents about the new versions UI:

  • The lack of color saturation makes it harder to tell things apart, and thematically boring.
  • There are too many icons/gauges with same color monochromatic color scheme, making it hard to tell them apart at a glance.
  • The icon lines are too thin to easily discern at a distance.
  • The fonts and icons too small to easily discern at a distance.
  • There is too much wasting of screen real estate with so much unnecessary whitespace between text and icons.
  • There is too much scrolling required on Today screen to get to the information I seek.
  • It is missing customization to order information sub-modules on the Today screen.

In general:

I want more information density and customization to immediately see info I'm interested without having to scroll or click/tap into it.

Conclusion:

I would prefer an option to use the previous version instead, or to have my list of items addressed with prompt updates.

Additionally:

I would like to be able to use the app without having to have GPS turned on.  I've yet to get a reasonable technical answer why Fitbit demands GPS location in order to use the app.

The new app is not as user friendly as the previous one. I adjusted to the graphics, but not showing the % of charge is not acceptable. It seems as though an email with a few helpful tips would have been helpful before the app switched over. Sometimes you don't need to fix what isn't broken.

Very, very, bad update. Go on this way and all your customers will go for another brand.

As a daily Fitbit app and device user for many many years… I have to say the new app update is terrible. Everything being all white is so visually unhelpful and dull. The older version of the interface was perfectly fine. This is a huge downgrade in my opinion and unfortunately makes me not want to use it at all.

I thought I'd give it a little time and see if I got used to the new look. I didn't. Please swallow your digital pride and put the good version back. Thanks.

Per my understanding nothing going to change in current situation. I personally opened case with Fitbit Support, spent about an hour on the phone, sent several e-mail communicating with Support supervisors. They just do nothing. And in the e-mails response I've been told straight - "we are unable to go back to the old app". So I don't see future for this app, devices and company itself. I'm still choosing next tracker, most probably it will be some Garmin device.

This update is so aggravating that I’m going to check out the features on the latest Apple Watch. Maybe my “go to” and loved Fitbit has come to the end.

Many users have posted with similar issues regarding the Fitbit app being a poorly designed mess. I'm not sure if this is intentional, but it is an insult to the daily users to try and pass this off as a serious upgrade/enhancement to the previous version. I haven't seen any real solutions from Fitbit on this yet; so, I'm guessing there won't be one. I will be purchasing another non-Google product as a replacement.

I agree. I am not sure if it was just my dad's phone or what, but it just updated yesterday. He is quite disappointed. He is older, 72 and retired, does a lot of work outside and around the house to keep himself busy and likes to see his progress throughout the day. As some others have said, it is unmotivating, dull, lame, etc. It looks so basic, as if it was the first ever version of the app that could have been designed by a teenager with color blindness. Just stating the facts. He had an older, not too popular watch that tracks his movement, steps, and sleep and is switching to that one, and I just bought him the charge 5 fitbit recently.

Thanks for the reply. I have a similar usage at 75 YO. I got some help from another user.
1. Tap the pencil icon
2. now the box with 4 tiles swipe left until you get to the box with blank tiles then populate the 4 tiles with the data you want and save.

I was very disappointed to see the change in the app on my phone. It's difficult to decipher which stat you are looking at. Very boring and ugly format now. Not an improvement at all. Please go back to the very user friendly version. I beg of you.

I really don’t like the new App it is almost child like, the old one was so much better on the eye and easier to use. Why did someone think this was a good idea? It is harder to see where everything is, looks so unprofessional

I TOTALLY agree. The new GUI is freakin' horrible! I want the old one back - it was way easier to find stuff.

When my current Versa 3 bites the dust I will get a different brand (probably a Samsung).  Two main reasons: The new GUI in horrible, but more importantly, now that Fit Bit was bought by Google I have not yet been able to or figured out how to download monthly data or specify which activities to download.  The current configuration between Fit Bit and Google is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE.

I totally agree, I didn't have any of these issues when I first got my Fitbit. I am on my third and have encouraged all my family to get one. We had great fun challenging each other and even that has gone.

I HATE the new UI. I want the old one back. The ONLY reason that I haven't switched to a samsung smart watch is because I preferred fitbit's UI. This is now gone. If you don't provide an option to switch back to the old UI, I will be buying a new smart watch and leaving the fit bit app behind.

Inclined to do the same. Very sad after all these years.

I have pretty much stopped using it. Will probably end up puchasing a different device and moving on. Sad after all these years with fitbit.
