Able to return to previous Fitbit app version

Woke up this morning to your new app. To say the least I am not impressed. It lacks color and is boring and adds nothing new to what was there before. I absolutely hate it. I am a longtime Fitbit user but this might actually change that on next purchase.

Stepping Up

This thread is almost a year old and the only changes have made all interfaces worse.

I want to be able to see my heart rate, step count, and calorie burn at various points in the day with more precision. Within say 15 minute increments (5 minutes would be even better). Now I can't even tell which HOUR they happened in!!!!!

Same kind of thing for the sleep section. And that sleep profile is the stupidest thing ever.

I also want the online dashboard back so I can compare past days, months, even years of data that I no longer have access to. And I'm on Premium!

Here's how it goes... A product's design is sensible and functional. Then another co takes it over. The new co's programmers have to justify their jobs by redesigning everything. Often times the new design sucks (as what happened when Google took over Fitbit). Google programmers destroyed the look and usability of the sleep function. The old Fitbit design was 1000 times better. And that's the way the cookie crumbles...

The only way you're going to be able to see it the way it was before the downgrade is if you have an Android phone and you revert back to version 3.9. I never updated the app so I've enjoyed the same wonderful experience we all had before they ruined it. What the future brings is anybody's guess but I'm going to enjoy it while I can?

If our experience of response to customer feedback over the last year has
taught us anything, it is that Google doesn't give an eff. I've always been
primarily a phone app user so hopefully will survive this callousness. Im
not a fan of big tech or mega corporations but guess we are all
inadvertently trapped in this situation. I'm also not sure we'll benefit
from abandoning one for the other .

They are making it increasingly difficult to even post in this thread. The
brutal truth is they want to close the Fitbit service down and probably
aren’t bothered if anyone transfers over to the alternative Google service
as they have want they want, the backend tech and all of our data.

I for one will leaving in July when the deadline for transferring over to
Google expires. It’s a sad truth that somehow tech companies have managed
to get away with not working to the standards of other companies or indeed
provide any form of Customer Service

Bye bye Fitbit. I enjoyed this watch. It was recommended by my neurologist for insomnia and sleep hygiene. Thankfully my sleep is better now, so I don’t have to stick around any longer for the terrible changes and the non-syncing dud that doesn’t even tell the correct time now. Going to check out some other watches!

I shall moving awat from using a fitbit. The new app presentaion is bland and with its monotone colour appoach difficult to use. Abandoning the online dashboard , which I found helpful has confimred my intention to move to another provider!

100% agree.  I use the online dashboard daily.  I use it to track my progress, the detail in the online dashboard is perfect for that.  That date is NOT in the phone app.  Getting rid of the online/browser/computer dashboard is a BAD IDEA FITBIT/GOOGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have used Fitbit with different devices for 10 years. Always been happy with what it is tracking and how I can monitor it from the app. The last version gives nothing unless you have a premium subscription and the look of the stats on the app is no longer user friendly and intuitive. Really disappointed and considering another tracker.

Since it is now Google, I am wondering if they even have access to these

I had mentioned last fall when this whole debacle first began that if all of these very valid user complaints were not satisfactorily addressed by the time my current Versa 2 ceases to function, then I would be moving on to another brand. Well, that day has come. I knew I wouldn't be waiting long, as this is my third Versa 2 in about three and a half years.  (Unacceptable, BTW.)  A few days ago, my Versa suddenly would not sync unless it was on the charger, and it started losing time. It was gradual at first, just 3 or 4 minutes per hour, but it has quickly escalated. Syncing at this point takes many, many tries and lots of time, and is rarely successful.

The night before last, my BF got the Fitbit version of the "blue screen of death" (stuck on the Fitbit logo and non-responsive) on his Charge 5, which is fairly common for that model according to what I've found on this forum, and for which the apparent ultimate "fix" is the oh-so-helpful, "just buy a new one."  Then, this morning the same thing happened to my Versa, only my screen eventually came back on after 15 or 20 minutes. (Coincidence? Yeah...) This accounts for at least some of the time that has been lost today, but it is in addition to the steady loss already occurring, not the cause of it.  Yesterday the Versa's time was behind by about 7 hours before I managed to get it to sync last night, and I did not get the logo screen at all then.  This afternoon, after a couple of hours without the logo screen, there was a spell where the screen just went black and no amount of button pushing would get the tracker to turn on again.  (It was fully charged about 4 hours prior.) Then, for no discernible reason, after 10 minutes or so, the tracker came on with the logo screen again. I put it on the charger, it stayed on the logo screen for 15 or 20 minutes, and then it embarked on an endless unbreakable reboot cycle. The screen is back up again now, and losing time at a continuously increasing rate. I just used a stopwatch to time how long it takes the Versa to advance one minute, and it took 2 minutes and 50 seconds. This is causing my heart rate measurement to be almost tripled. But on the bright side, at least my active minutes and calories burned today are phenomenal!

Given that the entire Google/Fitbit situation is only getting worse, not better, and it's obvious that there is zero interest on their part to restore the functionality that we, their customers, had and expected to keep when we purchased their goods (trackers) and services (tracker and app functions and, in some cases, Premium), I have zero interest in continuing down this path.  BF and I are already looking elsewhere.

It was fun while it lasted.

The app is terrible. It will show 4 days of exercising and then the next day, 2 days are missing.  It also shows I did 44 minutes of walking at 3:13 am!! It has gone steadily downhill since Google took over.

The app is crashing, doing and even worse job utilizing GPS for activities, failing to even semi-accurately track activities automatically or with manual input.

Hi @noname1919 - it would be a good idea to go back to a previous version if something goes wrong or is worse but Google haven't implemented that technology, nor have Apple. In former IT times it was standard practice to have a roll back capability before the "Stores" became common.

Now that it's Prime Day, Google has released it's new 'Fitbit' phone offering a "Fitbit experience like no other".  I would imagine that one does what the old software once did.

That is a stretch. Going google all the way... stripped down

Sorry, I meant 'fitbit watch'.  They now have one under their own name.  I'll guarantee the software works, unlike actual fitbits.

I'm out, Fitbit. Going to something else. And definitely not a Google watch.

I am thoroughly disgusted with the change for FItBit. Prior to the change, every morning I logged in to FitBit on my computer, posted my weight, reviewed progress for weight loss, and planned exercise for the day. Now, the only way I can see my dashboard is on my cellphone. It is way to small to truly view. When I do my five mile walk I cannot see the splits. I have stuck with FitBit for about a decade now but if I can no longer see my stats on my computer, I see no reason to continue. Please revert back to having computer access.

Every line on the old version represented 15 minutes, so you could try to best your previous 15 minutes or make sure you were keeping up with consistent pace. It was great. I was having a syncing issue so I updated the app(which was not the solution to the issue) and found 15 minute intervals are gone.

I find it ridiculous that the 15 minute intervals were taken away, this new version sucks. It’s unpleasant to look at, and you can’t track anything.  The Fitbit Facebook moderator suggested I come here.
