Able to return to previous Fitbit app version

Woke up this morning to your new app. To say the least I am not impressed. It lacks color and is boring and adds nothing new to what was there before. I absolutely hate it. I am a longtime Fitbit user but this might actually change that on next purchase.

So unhappy. Is it a coincidence that the moment I was forced into the new app, that my Charge 4 was put into permanent DIM mode? I think you are forcing product obsolescence on me.  My tracker worked fine until the new UI came out. I need a replacement now, but not considering FitBit anymore.  Sad, because I really liked the product so much that I’ve had 3 of them. The ‘new/improved’ UI is awful.

@AerynSun  I used to have a Charge 4 then a Charge 5 and EVERY update rest my settings and to Dim all the time. You have to go into settings gs and reset it to your previous setting.

Thanks DBBAGS!  (original post on page 77 in case this continues to grow)

Awesome (well as awesome as it can get in this **ahem** GUI) – thanks so much for sharing!!!

Below is what it look like.  Still no battery - hopefully it emails when low.  Hard to keep a Fitbit1 alive all these years....

Ill add, if you do an exercise that wasnt properly identified by the app automatically, then add it/modify it, you will miss all of the heart rate data (which is one of the only two reasons I use fitbit).

Please fix it and dont consider that adding back a basic feature you removed/broke as a "feature request" but an actual bug correction

I'm missing exercises when I walk or it's giving me the wrong stats. I really don't like this at all.

October 9th - logged over14,000 steps, but the app says I have nothing.

I have faithfully tried the new app to give it a chance. The developers have made the fatal mistake of sacrificing function for form. The new app is:
1. Harder to navigate. I cannot easily scroll my stats to compare week over week.
2. The charge icon is no longer there.
3. Its buggy. It locks up. I have to "force quit" the app at least once a day.

I am wondering if anyone has encountered issues with the new app locking up. The screen becomes unresponsive and I am forced to navigate to the settings menu on my phone go to my list of apps and then "force quit" and restart it. I'm on a Samsung Android phone. I mainly see this behavior when I'm also using Spotify and I switch between the apps when starting a workout.

As for the rest of the app, suffice it to say, if I were to draw an analogy to the various Windows versions over the years, I would say that this is Fitbit's "Windows 8.1 moment." A serious misstep and a textbook example of "app encrapification" (I used the more polite term)

In the upper left you see the watch and phone?
Tap that then the watch and it will give you and almost useless indication of battery level, no % just high med low.

Thanks - but it just goes to a screen that tells me I'm connected and gives option to Add new devices.

My phone doesn't get messages anymore when someone texts, and also doesn't do anything when I get a call.  Is this feature gone as well. When my phone rang, the watch would vibrate. Text messages would also vibrate and I could read messages on my Fitbit.  Now there is nothing.  Is everyone experiencing this too ?

There is no way Fitbit (Google) cares enough to moderate this board with a person.  Just some sort of bot.AI.  My 3 letter acronym that starts with p followed by o and than s in front of GUI got changed and posted in virtually real time.  Why does Google even bother?  Clearly trying to alienate and kill off Fitbit.  Why not sell it - oh wait - they drove it into the ground and would probably be better off taking a write off.  Still can't believe some enterprising person hasn't recreated the much missed and loved Fitbit1.  Definitely a business opportunity. Or maybe was until everyone was forced to move on.

Are you complaining just for the sake of it?

It should come as no surprise that Google aims to streamline the design of its applications. The recent app update has made the Fitbit app more in line with other Google apps like YouTube, Maps, and Photos.

Tens of millions of people use their Fitbit watches every single day, yet there are only a few hundred complaints. Will Google reverse the changes made to Fitbit due to a microscopic number of complaints from a vocal minority? Highly unlikely.

Complaints primarily revolve around design changes and some alleged missing functions. However, the vast majority of functions remain intact; they might just be in different places after the update.

Why do you own a Fitbit?  What's more important to you: a flashy app or better health?

Hopefully, it's because you want to monitor your activity levels and exercise. Fitbit offers features like step counting, heart rate measurement, and activity tracking, with some models even featuring GPS for trail tracking, distance, and speed information. For many users, the health features are crucial. Do you want to improve your cardiovascular health, lose weight,  get in better shape? The Fitbit's health features allow you to track your progress, regardless of how the app looks.

Trends are important, not the moment

Remember, trends matter more than the "here and now." Some Fitbit devices have advanced features that measure blood oxygen levels, sleep patterns, and stress levels. It's the long-term changes and trends that are important, not the changes from one hour to the next or one day to the next.

Out of all the baseless claims in various discussions, one stands out as the most absurd: "How many lives have been lost?" Seriously..."

Almost speechless with this comment - I wonder if you’re working for these guys. Quality matters and I believe that everyone here strives to improve their health and clearly the health of this formerly excellent company. The app shift is horrendous along with the lack of communication by those who decided to change it into crap .

@LokeAa

That has to be the most hilarious answer Ive ever seen on a support/community forum.

"dont complain because you're a drop in the ocean, and what you complain about doesnt matter to our google overlord and their long term business and branding design"

Hope you're being paid to write something like that

@LokeAa

Interesting, you cannot be tagged.

Makes you seem even more bot like etc. People are complaining because the app they have love, has been Gutted. DESTROYED, in an 'update' its almost like it was taken out by a hacker. To destroy a product line.....

And yes, whilst many of us Loved, and were loyal to FitBit, GOOGLE, should have understood that Gutting the Fitbit app, and making it Souless, and practically Useless(also almost unusable for those with Colourblindness). As some have mentioned.

Would inherently, cause, many to make a Switch, Away from FitBit and away from GOOGLE. As Google, ruined FitBit. Yes we lose our years of Stats, and have to learn a new system etc. But it's better to have a nice UI on one's phone, then something Extremely U.G.L.Y.

It's going to be a Learning curve, but yes, I have already upgraded, as noone from FitBit or Google is Listening on any of there feedback locations. All Feedback has been Automatic. Nothing in actual response, I gave them a Week to respond, and was looking at Reviews etc, and Sales, and found the closest but newer to by Versa 3

Let’s let Loke Aa use the new version.

Those of us who appreciate quality will either switch to a non-google product or, if there is any hope left, wait for the reinstatement of the better, previous version.

Just because “they” make changes has no correlation with whether the changes are an improvement.

Hi @waynecz

Thanks for the info. I can see I’m not the only one with similar problems. I have tried to change settings, but the screen is SO dim that I have to go into a completely dark room to even see that there is SOMETHING still there. Not nearly enough to read the screens.  Attempting to set the screen to BRIGHT yields no substantial change.  And since my product isn’t available anymore and out of warranty, all they offered was a discount on new purchase. But the horrible UI has removed (or made too complicated to view) all of the details that I relied on daily.  I don’t want to encourage a company that has become so disappointing.

I usually do an update of the app without concern or checking the forum… Now I want to kick myself!
So disappointing!!  The display is ‘dead’, depressing and dreary - I don’t even want to look at it! 🫣
