Able to return to previous Fitbit app version

Woke up this morning to your new app. To say the least I am not impressed. It lacks color and is boring and adds nothing new to what was there before. I absolutely hate it. I am a longtime Fitbit user but this might actually change that on next purchase.

Other users have done a good job describing exactly what is wrong with the new app design, and I just wanted to say that I agree.  Prior to this redesign, I used the app every day for almost two years.  But this new design is so harsh to look at and so unfriendly to use that I've used it only twice since I received the update a couple of weeks ago.  Health habits can be difficult to form, and when a company makes changes that drive you away from the tools you had learned to rely on, it ends up feeling like you have to start from scratch.

My husband and I are very unhappy with the new app. From the comments, it appears we are not alone.

When I opened my app the other day I had thought it entered some sort of 'safe mode'. It's a nightmare to navigate, half the stuff I kept an eye on during the day is no longer easy to find. It feels very clumsy to navigate, my sleep times are WAY off, and the activities I choose no longer come up as those activities. I pick yoga & it shows Walk :[

I think I understand the basis of a lot of the complaints and unhappiness with the update. From the technical or product developer point of view, you of course have some valid points. I never knew anything about the Product Feedback forum until the update caused me to search out answers as to what happened. It seems as though the FitBit app that we've used for years was user focused, and the developers took user input into account for most of its development over the years. Users posted requests for what they wanted, users voted on the posted requests, and developers made changes based on user requests. This update was probably at Management's request and direction.

Sure, it looks like Google tried to incorporate all the basics of the old app, but the users are saying functions they were using are missing. What may seem like a minor function related to exercise and activity can be very important to the people who use it daily and need it for motivation. Who are we to judge what or why something is important to the users?

Bottom line: The old app was user focused and user driven. Not every function was important to everyone, but every function was important to those who used it daily.

I came here to see if anyone else was disappointed in the new app. Wow, I was surprised by how many are.

This comment was great. I can only hope fitbit listens.

Still washed out colors. Not easily visible graphs. No explanation of what
the graphs mean. Calories has three separate parts. But what are they for?
. It's a terrible down grade.

I agree with Nymdok, hope that's correct. The screen is extremely boring looking and lacks detail. I'd like it to go back to how it used to look.

I agree with all these comments and note Fitbit hasn't helped at all.  The only way I could even know why syncing with the PC App isn't working is to trawl other users' comments.

I am really glad my Fitbit was a work prize and I didn't pay for it.  Some great changes would have to happen for me to ever buy another one.

It is essential the stats are returned for all workouts, not just walks and runs. I can no longer see how hard I worked out based on heart rate zones for the work outs I've added. The previous primary colours were easy to distinguish and see at a glance both for heart rate graph and for heart rate zones. So when you bring this back, please make sure the colours are easy to see.

For walks I've done, I can see heart rate graph but as mentioned above, the colours between the zones are too similar (did you even do any user testing?) so please reconsider the colour palate.

If this doesn't change, I'll be leaving fitbit and actively not recommending it to others.

My point, MarkIndia, was that the one thing Fitbit did better than others, and that is why they were the most successful, is that it made the wearable fun and created community. Typical though of Google as a tech company to not "get it."

I agree. It is not for us to understand the machinations of the mega
corporate world. I can still distill sufficient health related data with
the new app inconvenient as it is!

I was about to buy my 6th fitbit. Sadly I must move on.

The new Fitbit app is awful. It looks terrible and doesn't work. I horseride and dance so when doing these I select Workout on my watch and in the past I could then change it in the app to the correct exercise, this isn't possible anymore. The app says you can edit the exercise but when you select the type of exercise you can't do anything, there's no dropdown and there's no keyboard to type.

The app is now bland, difficult to navigate, not as informative and doesn't work - what a disappointment 😔

Please give users the option to revert to the old style

The new fitbit app is an abomination!! Bring back the old app!!!

I couldn't agree more.  I really dislike the new interface as well.  Can you please restore the previous interface?  That one was so much more motivating and fun.  This one is terrible.  Seeing progress takes more clicks and I like tracking by day and the weekly.

I am glad to see I am not alone in not liking this new upgrade. Wish I could go back to previous version. I find myself not using the app as much as I did previously.  Can't find things easily.  Not pleased.

Another long time user here. Hate the new app interface. Well be looking for alternatives. Fitbit have lost their way.

I completely agree, the updated app is horrible. What I dislike the most:

1) I can now only view my steps, burned calories, exercise, etc. per day or per week, but cannot just scroll through a long list of all previous data and see weekly totals/averages at the top.

2) For exercise, images of hikes with GPS are no longer shown in the list. Sometimes I want to look back at a walk I took a month ago to see how long it was and I could always easily find them because of the image of the tracked route that was visible when you scrolled through the list, but now that isn't visible anymore and I can't find a walk unless I know specifically on which day it was.

This new update is horrible! I’m seeing less information and what I do see is difficult to read because of the font. What I saw prior to the update was perfect. Did you not Beta test this? I appreciate what NYMDOK said and the time he took to detail the multiple issues. I second all his points. Please listen to your users.  Fix this mess.

This is HORRIBLE.  Narrow fields, no color, just plain boring and miserable to even try to navigate.  PLEASE, PLEASE bring back the original format!!!!

It's so grey, full and depressing. I've lost all motivation to workout and use it, because I'm absolutely amazed a company who not give a consumer a CHOICE. Why change something that is working for so many? Sure, if you want to at least give consumers both options like Microsoft Outlook. Sad. Genuinely miss the Fitbit app. Please give people the choice to have it back.

Absolutely agree to all the new update comments. This new version made it more complicated to follow your data at a glance. Not sure who designed this, but it needs to go back and get the old version back as it is too difficult to keep track. Also it has no color to highlight your progress.
