Add Airplane mode to Versa series

I recommend adding an airplane mode to the first firmware update.

I have seen several posts wondering about turning off bluetooth or WiFi on the new Ionic.  Several people have stated an interest based on small amounts of radiation, others have considered FAA regulations for devices.  This feature would also benefit people who work in government, tech, and security industries who work in places where transmitting devices of any kind are not allowed.  I am interested because being able to control how often my device transmits and whether or not it is able to sync provides me the ability to extend battery life because I don't always want a smart watch. Sometimes I just want a pedometer, but I don't want to switch between two different devices.

Please add airplane mode.

I don't want to have to dig through settings to make sure everything that should be turned off when flying actually is. Or have to turn things back on again when I'm off the plane. Versa is a smart watch, I'd like to be able to wear it in ALL situations without worrying about it.

like several others I would also like to have a flight mode to not have all the time signals while I am sleeping,...

I switched to the versa as it was similar to my old pebbles but with some extras. Seems like there are also limitations,..

Have not found the watchface I want and a seems like so far no flight mode 😞

FitBit have disabled replies on the previous thread.

Opening a new one to get other people seeing this.

We are requesting that FitBit add an option to disable the bluetooth in device. This is currently not planned to be implemented at this stage, however I feel that irregardless of that fact, we keep pushing them to add it.

I would bet that there are many more people that would benefit or like to have this implemented that haven't ventured on to the forums in search of this information.

Lets get votes on this, as fitbit seems to only care about the raw number of votes, not customer opinions.

Hi @Cam125, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here as it is not currently planned.

I suggest that the Fitbit devices have an airplane mode, to be able to turn off bluetooth, in order to reduce EMF radiation. This is especially important for sleep tracking. Apple and Garmin watches have this function. Fitbit has excellent sleep tracking, but does not have airplane mode.

I have a pebble2 and one of my best features on it is that you can turn on Airplane Mode and Smart Watch becomes a regular watch - no wifi, no bluetooth, no HR, no steps tracking....

This is good for:

- Those who mainly use the watch as a great alarm clock.

- Save tons of battery when needed - and you can then advertise that watch can work up to 30 days before charging!

- Ability to wear the watch on Sabbath - when AOD is on.

I think there are many EX-Pebble fans that are looking for a watch, that when you want, it cam become smart and if you don't want that, it will remain simple.

I love my fitbit blaze. however....I don't love the fact that there is no airplane mode...that bluetooth cannot be enabled/disabled.

My partner is highly sensitive to RF radiation and bluetooth, WiFi and mobile phone signals make her physically very unwell. The stronger the transmission strength and the closer her proximity the worse it gets.

As a result of that I have thoroughly researched the phenomena of electromagnetic sensitivity and concluded that it is very, very real experience for a statistically significant percentage of the population. That then leads one to conclude that if those folk are experiencing symptoms then all of us are being exposed to the cause of those symptoms.

We purchased a sensitive RF/EM meter and the Fitbit Blaze I wear is off the scale in terms of signal strength when in contact with my wrist. Well above any current regulatory guidelines/levels. This is not good!!  Particularly when the device is worn constantly or for very long periods of time.

There is an increasing body of peer reviewed studies and evidence suggesting that the currently governmentally agreed 'acceptable' levels of RF radiation emitted by bluetooth devices, WiFi devices and mobile phones are massively overstated and that we lack a clear understanding of the short and long term health implications of such supposedly 'safe' levels of exposure.

It is both remiss of hardware manufacturers to refuse to provide users with the option of enabling/disabling these RF radios embedded in their devices. Not only is it remiss but it is opening themselves up to potential legal action for damages in the future.

Garmin offer the ability to enable/disable bluetooth. Why not FitBit?

Look forward to hearing your answers please.

We need the ability to turn on airplane mode. This would let us turn the Bluetooth off and on, on the device itself. It would make it so we are exposed to less emf. We would then be able to turn it on again to sync when we want it to.

Please allow the user to enable “airplane mode” or turn off Bluetooth on Fitbit Versa / Sense devices to limit electromagnetic fields when in a setting required to do so.
