Why cant fitbit add this feature?Seems unfair that a device with all required data tracking capabilities, would not offer this feature. 

Is simply to get me to buy a newer device?

Are you sure you don't have it?  On phone app, click heart rate tile; then swipe left on the resting heart rate graph.

Hello @Jblanco, as you mentioned, this is not possible with Charge HR device. If you have a Fitbit device with heart-rate tracking (except Fitbit Charge HR and Fitbit Surge), you can track your overall cardiovascular fitness in the Fitbit app.
