Add Lloyds bank to UK Fitbit pay

More bank compatibility for uk Fitbit pay versa users. So far Fitbit pay is not connected to any major banks in the UK. The very few that fit bit pay is connected to I’ve never even heard of. So as a UK versa owner I have the special edition and can’t use the very feature that separates it from the the normal versa.

is Fitbit pay going to compatible with the major banks in the UK like Barclays, Lloyds, Santander, HSBC, NatWest, TSB, Metro Bank, Halifax, Royal Bank of Scotland etc and also I haven’t seen any where (shops) that accepts Fitbit pay yet.

I hope not thanos23!

It's been marketed that the only difference between standard and special edition is the Fitbit pay facility, so why bring out a special edition if they both have it.

There are many that have bought special edition at extra cost, if they then find out the standard has Fitbit pay, they will feel cheated and rightly so.

As far as I could tell when researching which Fitbit to buy, @mrsgen, the only difference between the "standard" and "special edition" versions was that the SE came with a different strap.

My experience and the reason why I started contributing here, is because I originally purchased the standard Fitbit Charge 3.  Having syncd it with the phone, I checked the features that were available, contactless payment was not listed, so could not be enabled by completed the required card details in the phone app.

Fortunately, I purchased via Amazon and their returns policy meant that I was able to swap the standard Fitbit for the special edition version without issue.  When you sync the spec edition and check the app features, you find that you can enable contactless payments and complete the required card details - until you look for a participating bank that is!

It does seem a bit hit and miss and you really do have to do research. Initially the several places I tried all stated the SE to have Fitbit Pay and did not state the std to have it, causing the confusion. I have now seen that it's US std ones that don't have it.

I have purchased the Versa SE anyway, so hopefully all will be ok. I will next open a Starling bank account I think.

Very disappointed that Fitbit pay is not available for hsbc/rbs. Come on Fitbit get your act together.

What's the point of having a feature that doesn't work in the UK who's heard of Starling Bank! AnywaySmiley Frustrated

As far as I'm aware it's never been marketed as such but could be wrong. I
pre-ordered and simply checked the specs. The only difference is the fancy
strap. My black Versa definitely has it as a few times it has activated
when near a card scanner and said I need to link it to a credit card (or
similar), which of course I can't because it doesn't support major UK
banks. The box also confirms it has Fitbit pay.

It may be that you've simply searched Fitbit Versa in Google and been taken
to the US site, where the special edition is the only one with Fitbit pay?

Don’t know anything about Versa marketing.  Pre-Christmas Amazon UK site was displaying full range of latest Charge 3 including a special edition with NFC which wasn’t particularly well explained.  The NFC version was had a fancy coloured strap and was more expensive, so it almost appeared to be more about the bling, not the ability to make contactless payments.  It was however, buried in the details when you looked much closer.

There’s no mention of contactless payment as a feature in any of the online marketing material, or the manual.  As I mentioned in a previous post, the app can tell the difference between a NFC and non-NFC tracker, by not showing it as a setup option for the non-enabled item.

sounds like you purchased a tracker with NFC without knowing there was an option, which is fortunate for you as long as your happy to use an obscure bank and go through the hassle of setting up a top up payment from your mainstream bank account.  Please don’t expect the rest of us to be so accommodating to this American company treating the U.K. as though it’s a third world nation that doesn’t really account for much on the spreadsheet, so can be sold the stuff we can’t shift stateside.

Do we have any update if the Lloyd's will ever be added ? The ionic/versa are great fitness trackers but seem to really be lacking on the Smartwatch side especially outside the US.

No response at all from Fitbit, quite outrageous considering the amount of products they have in the world market!

Hi Fitbit, there's certainly some significant interest here for more banks to be added to Fitbit Pay, and credit to you - you're onto something here! It's clear that lots of people are asking for more banks to be signed up in their countries. I would hasten to add the major credit card operators too - is it possible to sign up VISA/Mastercard and pick up several banks in the the process? Personally, I am particularly interested in AMEX in the UK.

To manage this community frustration, would you be able to release a statement on how (and when) you intend to sign up more institutions? Even something saying, "we are in discussions with [8] banks in the UK, [4] in Australia...etc... and hope that in 2019 we will add [4] in the UK, blah blah blah". Please help us to understand, or I do think it will affect your sales.

Thanks

I would everybody who has taken the time and trouble to contribute here to also the same with their own banks, building societies, credit card providers and so on.  I did so with FD and got a rathe bland response but at least it’s registered that it’s an issue with one customer.

It’s impossible to use the payment function in the UK as none of the usual banks are supported, which is unbelievable. Apple Pay supports this.

Please add these banks: Barclays, HSBC, NatWest, Halifax, Lloyds.

I live in the U.K. and I love how the U.K. has contactless payments. I purchased my Fitbit in 2014 and have upgraded to a Fitbit Versa and was very excited when I saw how Fitbit has enabled security measures to protect our detail/card information. However when I saw none of the major banks in the U.K. were on the supported list I was very disappointed. I would like to suggest Fitbit take a closer look into which major banks are used and make some necessary changes. I currently bank with NatWest and Barclays and hope to see them on the supported list soon. Thank you for your help.

Please take the time to write to your own bank to tell them that you want them to seriously consider enabling Fitbit to access their contactless  payments system.  The individual banks will only respond to pressure from customers when this is in sufficient numbers and happens of a regular basis.  Those who use online banking should be able to use their secure messaging facility.

It’s a shame that Fitbit do not have the decency to respond directly to all the uk users that have bought Fitbit products in good faith only to be dissatisfied and disappointed.
Think I will write to BBC Watchdog maybe they will get better results than the general public have to date.

Please add a few larger banks such as Barcleys or lloyds! I brought my charge 3 today and was hoping i could use fitbit pay, after not being able to use it on my Samsung watch for the past 2 years (also not linked with Barcleys or lloyds)

Thank you!

HSBC should be added as well, also Amex should be available. This function is basically useless in the UK for now.
