I'm with StillJogging on this one. If it's not there by next winter I'm moving to the darkside. Shame as I have been very positive about the Blaze when asked.
Be great to have skiing added. I know it's not step based but could be integrated with Apps such as Ski Tracks to get the data on time/distance etc. HR would be known for those times..
Totally agree I first posted this December 16 so Fitbit you have 10weeks before I go skiing again and if still can get this fix I be asking Santa Claus for another activity tracker that does!
Hi @Xtaski and commenters, thanks for your suggestion.
We're always working to streamline our offerings as we introduce new products. Although it has been a very popular product for us, Fitbit Surge will be replaced by our newest device, Fitbit Ionic, in October. Ionic is a motivating timepiece packed with fitness guidance, health insights, music storage, apps & and more. You can learn more about Fitbit Ionic at https://www.fitbit.com/ionic, and the rest of the Fitbit family of products at https://www.fitbit.com/compare.
Please note that we’ll continue to support Surge from a software standpoint, along with any questions you might have during your use of the product. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit devices you love and help you reach your goals.
I think your suggestion is a good one, so I took the liberty of changing the label and title so that it is applicable to future products and exercise developments.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feedback with us.
My faithful friend through the last 3 years or so (my beloved Surge) went to a better place yesterday. So I'm now looking for a new fitness watch, and I would love to keep using Fitbit, but it's killing me that they don't support XC skiing in their activities as that's the sport I'll be doing most of this winter. Why must such a small issue make me change brand? Please please PLEASE add XC skiing to activities asap!!!!!!! Or you will lose one otherwise very satisfied customer:(
Your not alone. Was going to buy another fitbit, but looking for one to track my snowboarding. If you find one as fitbit don't plan to cover this. Let me know the name of the one you switch to. Cheers ellen
I don’t blame you - Fitbit have not even acknowledged my request posted Nov/Dec 2016 So I have gone and bought the new iWatch3 A shame as as much as I enjoy Apple products I don’t like having all my tech needs in one basket and that Apple sc*ew you on accessories! Sent from my iPhone
We should keep voting this... Skiing is a must activity for fitbit. Can't believe that with the new ionic you haven't added yet this sport. Can someone from Fitbit reply?
I'd like to see an exercise shortcut be created for the Ionic for Alpine and/or Nordic skiing (utilizing the GPS, of course). It would be beneficial for those of us who live near ski areas and go to them regularly in the winter.
I am hoping to have the ability to either name a new activity (Cross country skiing) or have FitBit add cross country skiing to the options. Cross country skiing is a popular activity in many parts of the world and great cardio. I currently need to select another activity (such as run) but would prefer to be able to label my activity correctly.
Would be great to track ski and snowboard runs, in two modes. One on resort so the lift is not counted as stairs. A second for back country touring that tracks your ski tour up the mountain.
Please put a skiing activity or app on the ionic. Some things to use: max speed, number of lifts taken, highest altitude, GPS map, average speed, calories burned. Would be best before winter. Thanks.
