I would like it if there was a way to log snowboarding as an exercise. Right now the only option that comes up is skiing. I don’t mind manually entering it myself to track it, but I would like to track the proper sport I am participating in.
Hi @Cath_12345. I wanted to let you know that the ideas you recently posted already exist on the Feature Suggestions Board. You can see them here where you can add your vote to those existing suggestions:
Please try to make sure you only post one idea per suggestion, so we can keep the board organized, easily searchable and see which idea other members are voting for. Thanks for participating in Feature Suggestions!
I would love this. Tracking decent would be great, and knowing that when ascending you aren't doing anything. I notice on lifts, my charge 3 sometimes counts that as exercise.
How come there are no exercise shortcuts available for winter sports? I'd like to track my distance, speed and cardio when skiing, and have to use either walk or run, which is not optimal. Thisbis a must, I don't understand that it's not there already!
Yes i agree. Descent is what we want to track. Interesting that charge 3 sometimes tracks ascent. On my old Fitbit flex I could create a custom ski activity. Don't know if that is possible on my charge 2 ?
I need to say I was very disappointed when I realized there is no way to track cross country skiing on my Versa. I tried using Hiking for tracking the workout and even though the GPS was on, it still somehow counted the distance by steps, and as a result, the tracked distance was much less than real, 8km instead of 13km. I´m about to try using Bike mode and see if I get better results, hopefully I do. I can see this discussion has been going on since 2015, so it´s about time to release it, right? 🙂
Yeah it is about time to release it exercise for the winter like skating cross country ski and snow shoes they should had exercises that we do during winter time also we do exercises.
I agree with you, Egacas, it is about time to release. Meanwhile, in my experience Bike mode is the most accurate mode to track cross country skiing. In bike mode the tracked distance corresponds fairly good with the distance tracked by my husband's handheld Garmin GPS.
Hi @gsauterrun, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here as it is under consideration. Regarding your idea for the activity snowshoeing you should vote for this suggestion: Add snowshoe activity.
Went on skiing today, used Bike training for GPS, it meassured 7km tho my gf's suunto who has cross country as an acitivity meassured 14,1km. And by EVERY SINGLE SIGN AND MAP, it's a 14,1km lap. My Fitbit Ionic can't even track by GPS unless it's on a road...
It would be wonderful to add skiing as an exercise. It would be useful if we could track runs with GPS and also it would be great if we could track the altitude in meters (ups and downs while skiing) as well. I also really recommend add ice-skating as an exercise. You should think about the winter sport lovers
Hi Marcel As the instigator of a this interest in xc skiing usability for fitbit can you please let us all know if there has bern any progress in implenenting our wish? Thanks Nikki
I would like to see snowboarding and shoveling added to the list of exercise options. I typically do one or both several times a week but I cant track either activity through Fitbit.
Hi @ZaraMaraz, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here. Regarding the shoveling you should vote for this suggestion.
I had a connectivity issue with Alpine snow too, and found information that if you set the fitbit app location to Always versus only when you use the app, it will connect.
My Fitbit was set to location always and I am still having trouble connecting. I have also restarted my phone and Fitbit. Nothing has helped. Does anyone else still having problems?
Please add me to the list of those requesting that Fitbit devices recognize downhill skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing among the available exercises. And, while you're at it, how about rowing/kayaking?
