Allow More Fitbit Devices than Ace to Family Account

I am frustrated that I cannot give my Fitbit blaze to my daughter and use the family account. The only device it will allow you to since is the Ace. The Blaze is far better and it would be extremely useful to her. The only way I can have her use the Blaze is to lie about her age and create a single account for her. Please allow other devices on the family account for minors.

After 3 years, I don't think they are ever going to implement this feature.

it seems like Apple can do this, I will throw my old Fitbit in the bin and get my kid an apple watch SE instead.

After struggling with my Versa for a year or so, I had my fill of constant battery depletion, lost step/sleep info and wildly inaccurate data. This device is a cheaply made toy, so I think our 11-year-old daughter should be allowed to play with it. But she can't, because apparently someone at corporate thought that if their software blocked kids from using almost all of its models, Fitbit users would be dumb enough to shell out more money for kids-only trackers. And after three years and 1200+ votes from frustrated consumers, the company still shows no willingness to fix this. Maybe some parents felt guilty about the idea of having a Fitbit for themselves while refusing to buy an Ace for their child. But I'll be lying about my child's age along with everyone else. And I won't be buying another Fitbit product for myself or anyone in my family again.

this is crazy mad, the 10 year old wants my old Fitbit but can't be on my family account!!! come on Fitbit, get with the times, 10 year olds don't like the babyish Ace!!!

Fitbit should allow it to be up to the parents which Fitbit their child has. Ace should be featured and advertised as being more durable for younger kids and parents should be allowed to add any Fitbit of choice under a child's account.

Hi @jennablaze, thanks for sharing this suggestion about being able to setup more Fitbit devices and not only the Ace to a Family Account with us. This idea was already requested in the Feature Suggestions board, so I’ve moved your post here. This will help us to keep the forums organized and make sure the suggestions don't get confused, or split a popular vote. Click on the thumbs-up to show your support.

My son is 10. We tried the Ace and are incredibly unhappy with the lack of featured (we are a techie family) and would like more options for him. Fitbit could simply allow an extension to add any Fitbit to a child account and have the child on the family account. You can already turn options off and on for any Fitbit, so what's the big deal? If its a legality or confidentiality with a minor thing, have parents sign a waver. Parents should have discretion over something like this. Do you realize also the marketing capabilities with this? If you advertised the Aces as being for younger children and opened up the capability to use any Fitbit, it would allow the parents to purchase the more expensive F bits if they would like to for their child. You would make even more money (if you're thinking by limiting choices to parents with an ace that you're making money- you're not). My 10 year old is extremely responsible and able to keep up with models that offer more than what the ace has to offer. Please consider this. I mean, take it into serious consideration.

@LizzyFitbit Really?

This will help us to keep the forums organized and make sure the suggestions don't get confused, or split a popular vote.

are you sure you don't mean: "moved it so it's buried because we have no intention of supporting users under 13?" This is a rather old thread and NOBODY from Fitbit has done more than move even more requests for this feature to this forgotten graveyard for popular requests that FitBit and Google have absolutely no interest in entertaining.
What would be MORE useful is a definition of "under consideration" it's been under consideration since 05-20-2018 19:57 with absolutely no updates. Heck - in a few months my daughter will finally be in the final 12 months of her 13th year to support her Versa 2, my son still needs to be 13 for few years yet to support his Versa 2. He will probably be wearing a NON FitBit watch before this period ends as I'm so disappointed in the total lack of support.

It is all well and good the mderators moving our posts to 'keep things tidy'.  Personally I would prefer a response!!When is someone actually at Fitbit actually going to address this.  Seriously how.difficult can it.be.  FitbitIf.you are NOT going to address your.customers concerns and feedback ( yes we are customers) - then at least have the decency and respect to let us all know.Your customer service levels in terms of managing feedback is shockingly poor at the moment. A response of some sort to indicate whether or not something will be done would be apprceciated if it is not to much.Thank youSent from my Galaxy

This is a much needed update. Many families pass old watches down to younger family members. I’d like to give my old watch to my son but can only do it if I set up an account with a false age.

The family account should allow all styles of watch to be added. Maybe add a feature that allows you to disable some functions like calories for younger children

Hi @samcollins82thanks for sharing your suggestion about the possibility of allowing any watch or Fitbit device for a Child account/Family account. I noticed this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post hereThis helps to keep the forums more organized and prevent the vote from splitting into multiple ideas.

After years of suggestions regarding this utter nonsense and the most lame excuses for it and you offer this standard “thanks for being part of the community” response. It is an insult to the intelligence of your customers and shows that you put profits way above anything else. A real pity because your products were once class leaders.

Are Fitbit ever going to do anything about this?

My daughter is a mountain biker and on the swim team, why on earth can I not choose which Fitbit device ro give her?  This is just nuts, and utterly contrary to what I thought Fitbit stood for as a company.

Obviously profits before people is what this is really about,  given that this issue is more than 3 years old, and yet no solution yet.

I guess Apple or Garmin will be getting our business from now on

I think the Fitbit App should provide a way for multiple watches to be connected to a single device.

Hi @FaultFinder, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to allow more Fitbit devices than Ace to Family Account. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". I hope to see you around.

I highly agree with this, it would be so much more convenient  to get younger people moving if it was possible to use any Fitbit, and add it to your account as a child. This way you don't have to set up a email for them and a different account, and can keep an eye on how they are doing.

I've been waiting for this enhancement for over 2 years so both my kids can use our old FitBit's and it's EXTREMELY disappointing that this is STILL not done.

I don't plan to purchase a brand new FitBit for my children just as I do not plan to purchase a brand new cellphone for them.

This seems as though it'd be a simple enough request, but I feel that the company is preferring to make a profit instead of enhancing the customer experience.

I will likely no longer be purchasing any newer FitBit upgrades since I wouldn't be able to pass my older versions down to my children for them to use.

All fitbit devices should be available on the family account not just ACES. When we parents/guardians upgrade to another version the best idea is to give our old fitbit device to our kids. In regards to privacy, the family account is in control of guardian/parent so that is covered. Even microsoft has the option to set up child account on a computer where some restrictions are configured by the guardian/parent. It shouldn't be complicated with fitbit and should not take this long since this suggestion was raised that nothing has happened. In my view, this is a straight forward request that should be acted on ASAP by fitbit.

Great idea my kid really wants the charge 4 but can’t get it because I can’t connect it to the family account if your suggestion goes through I can’t tell you how happy I’ll be

Hi reading all the comments I agree with all of them you should take us seriously as customers this would be a great idea and I think you are missing a huge trick we are fed up with the cheap tatty ace that we have had to replace 3 times! Over the past 2 years this is starting to get ridiculous can you please just pay attention to us as customers otherwise I feel that these Apple Watch ideas aren’t just people trying to get you to come round to our way of thinking. You will start to lose customers and the Apple Watch threat will become a reality  I speak for Everyone when I write this please like my post if you agree with me

The ace is just an expensive piece of plastic that always breaks apple can have all devices to a family account so why can’t Fitbit?

This is an absolute must, with > 1200 votes!

I was considering upgrading to a Versa 3 - that will almost certainly not happen until I can pass my Versa 2 on to my daughter and have it properly in the app.

@LizzyFitbit - look at the comments here, you are literally losing business from this arbitrary decision, and probably long-term customers as well. Pushing people to look at other platforms is a really really bad idea for any business.

Please provide an update.  I cannot believe after 3 years this still has not been implemented. My 10 year old does not want an Ace. He wants my old Blaze. To think some kids would not use higher end fitbits is short sighted. I now have to shop for something different.

In the end I gave up. My son is now 12 but I have changed to a Garmin watch (even though its sleep tacking isn’t as good as my old Fitbit), my wife is changing to a Garmin and my son now has a Garmin. I am sure that this is being replicated among families globally. It is such an easy fix but not high enough on the companies agenda to be dealt with. Fitbit doesn’t care about customers, we are just fodder for their profits.
