Allow Offline syncing / Store data locally

I think you should be able to sync with your phone and then upload data at a later date. Let us store data locally so that an internet connection is not required to see current stats.

As I read all of the post. I wish I would have read them before I purchased the FITBIT. I am a seaman so I spend most of my time away from a wifi or cell signal. When my ship is inport it is great. But the first time I went to sea and realized the app was useless and that as the ship changed time zones I couldnt modify the times or my alarms. I  was upset. So I went to this section and started reading about how everyone wants this feature and on top of that I looked at how long ago 2014 that people have been asking. Iif I could, I would return mine for a full refund. But I will  make the best of it and just track my steps for now. I will not recommend this product to any of my shipmates out here at sea because I think by now FITBIT should have made this an option. Its not rocket science to create an option in the App to store and display this information and give consumers the option to not share their information online.

THANK YOU for your post! It is difficult to imagine why Fitbit seems to refuse to modify this feature.

Fitbit, Are you ever going to fix this?  Yes or No.

If the answer is No then I can pick up my flex from the back of my desk where it sits unused, blow the dust off it and drop it in the bin. I'd prefer the answer to be Yes as it seems a huge waste of money otherwise...  Please make the minimal effort and show that you care about your customers.

Here is really what's needed. I want to change the face and or alarm on my Blaze without the app needing to connect to fitbit.com. This should have been a no brainer from the start. Why should I have to connect to fitbit.com just to change the face or alarm? This is not an invitation for others to comment cons about this because there are non. It's a simple matter of bad data connection where I live and not that great wifi either. Love the Blaze but not enough can be changed from the watch. It's app dependent. It's too app dependent. The app can be connected to fitbit.com for upload of info when in a good area to do so.

Doesn't seem a little silly that you can't even set or disable a simple alarm without an internet connection (like when camping or hiking)? Even the simplest of watches has allowed alarm setting without the internet for 50 years! Bring us back to the modern day, Fitbit! We don't want to wear two devices!

The fitbit team doesn't care that we can't do this. They don't want this to happen. For some reason they just don't care about our suggestions on this matter. They don't care what we want and will never do it. This topic has been up since 2014. It would be an easy fix.

I doubt it's an easy fix, because it sounds like a completely different architecture for managing the data. Currently, the phone user interface has one point of contact: the server. Then some other bit of code keeps the servers and the tracker synced. This proposed feature would change all of that.

However, I feel it must be done. I think any prospective buyer would really be put off by the notion that an Internet connection is required for something as simple as setting an alarm. Even if they don't see that as a necessity, that fact makes the system sound really kludgy.

Couldn't even change the time if they wanted. Must connect to the app for most of the management. It's a terrible interface.

I don't own a fitbit, but for sure I would buy one when I could keep and analyse my data local on my smartphone instead of data being uploaded to fitbit servers. Reason for me not to buy a fitness tracker. Such privacy feature would be a real differentiator.

I am a pilot and change time zones often.  I couldnt believe that the Fitbit Surge requires an internet connection just to change the time.  What **ahem** decided that feature, and what idiot supervisors and beta testers thought that would be ok.  People are busy and travel a lot today.  They dont ALWAYS have a connection to the internet.  You have intentionaly built in a HUGE limitation to your product that people like me can't live with. As such, my Fitbit Surge will be going into the drawer, or possibly the trash, and I will put on my old trusty watch that can tell time in amy time zone, whenever i want.  Disappointed in your company and will never buy another Fitbit again.......

Definitely concur with bruce_ and everyone else here. I've been to many places for periods of a few weeks without internet of any kind and to my chagrin find my fitbit alarm completely out of reach. Please at least allow us offline alarms.

I just received my fitbit surge as a gift.

I work in a remote village in Alaska for four months of the year and often internet access is down. I do not have cell phone service in this village,so no smart phone. Other times I spend time in my RV with no internet access. I would like to have the option of synching to my computer.

I have not had it long enough to discover what else I cannot do without an internet connection, but I feel I should be able to use all functions without an internet connection.

I was "off the grid", in the sub-Antarctic, for 6 weeks.  It would have been good to be able to log how living on a ship for that time affected my sleep, as well as how my fitness, etc. was affected, but I couldn't sync data with my iPhone.  The ability to save data to your iPhone, or Mac, then sync with your servers later, would have been very useful.

Sadly, a lot of useful data has been lost.

I like many others support the idea of offline syncing. I work on a boat 6 weeks at a time and internet is limited. without this support the app is useless

I don't see why it should not be possible to sync between the FitBit tracker and the phone simply over Bluetooth, without any kind of connection to the FitBit servers. We should be able to get the measurements from the tracker to the phone and the alarms and setting changes from the phone to the tracker without an internet connection, just simply trough Bluetooth. And of course, as soon as an internet connection becomes available, the phone should be able to send/receive the data to/from the FitBit servers (withouth a Bluetooth connection to the tracker, because it has alreday been synced).

Waiting for an internet connection, especially when you don't have one or simply just turning WiFi or MobileData on/off just because of this is a pain.

Come on Fitbit team. 209 comments dating back to 2013. What's the explanation? I believe we deserve one. We the people are the ones that use the devices and losing us as users I OK with you? This is something that needs to be added in the next update. It should be a requirement. It's definitely a must have. Why aren't you listening? Why don't you care to answer?

Hi, I just get my fitbit Surge and I just dont understand why I need sync (even with Internet) just to set a alarm. set a alarm offline can do 90% of watch. I just get my "clever" watch which needs to sync to set alarm. I am really disapointed about this.

I would like set alarm in a same way how i can set Timer - it cant be so hard. Thank you for reading 😉

Why does the Feature Request search page show 0 new posts on this thread when I see several posts in the last 2 weeks? This is poor customer service... Fitbit at least needs to address this user forum directly with an answer. I have a Charge HR which I will be returning since I cannot sync offline. I guess I will have to look for a competitor's device that allows offline syncing.

I work on a cruise ship for 6 month at a time sometimes and Internet is EXTREMELY expensive and with limited availabolity. Offline syncing is a must or I need to go with other company.

I got a charge hr a few days ago and if I had known that I can only sync, change settings etc when online I wouldn't have bothered. Time to fix it fitbit.

Fitbit is a shame as a company. A lot of people want a sync offline and they don't give any answer about this problem. I don't know why the can't resolve this situation if other smart band have offline sync is a shame because is a good product but I am very disappointed about this

I agree.

I do mountaineering for many weeks at a time, during which I have no Wifi. I am very interested in statistics and tracking my heartrate over the duration of the trip. I have wanted to use my FitBit but as people have pointed out, the data is lost so its useless and generally stays at home.

I do hope Fitbit sort this out and allow the data (even temporarily) to be cached on the phone, else it looks like I will need to jump ship and go to a rival (no point in a FitBit for home and another for outdoors), which is a shame because I like the FitBit.

My girlfriend will be without data/wifi for 3 weeks this summer I will be with her for 2 weeks. Without offline sync our fitbits are useless in that time. Honestly I never tought that company like fitbit would not include offline sync in its products. Maybe 15 years ago but now when phones has GBs of space?
This is MUST and for me absolutely essential...
